Just How Good Are These?

From browsing a couple of the American based forums I have noticed that these are held in extremely high regard... Vernonscope Eyepieces

Has anyone here had any experience with the Brandon's and what are your thoughts on them?

Never used them but i think Questar supply them with thier scopes.

They are seriously expensive for a Plossl.

At 42 FOV and say a 8mm they would be harder to uses they a normal plossl

and with so many eyepieces around at that price I think I would prefer a Televue

eyepiece

You need to browse Cloudynights for loads of feedback, not to mention a certain amount of disagreement , on the Brandons. I've never even seen one personally although, as a confirmed occularholic, I'd certainly like to try one to see what the fuss is about

They certainly wouldn't be for me John but just curious, like you, as to what all the fuss is about them.

I've used Brandons on a Questar, they're good and probably the best available when Questars were introduced. These days there are better options for less money IMO.

Eye relief is very poor, only 1mm on the 8mm f/l. I prefer good eye relief and will steer well clear.

My eye would stick to the eyepiece in the winter
