Wife v Telescope? Hmmmmmm.

- Both require an initial outlay but if you choose correctly, they'll last a lifetime.

- Both can surprise you with what they're able to show you.

- The more care and attention you spend on them, the quieter and better they perform.

- You can waste a lot of money buying extras they don't really need.

- Not at their best until they've had sufficient time to cool down.

- Both can be taken out to impress your friends and be the centre of attention.

- Both can't be left unattended safely for any length of time.

- Can show their age over time but nothing that a good old strip down and a pot of grease won't put right.
