  2. And of course you Ian! What's the weather like?
  3. Hiya, Gonna try and make it down for the day to catch up with you guys, esp Shane,( jules if he turns up) Stu, Nick et al Mark
  4. Tent up and now at morrisons for booze and munchies :-)
  5. ah so it was you who bought the refractor from skylight instruments on AB&S then! i had looked at that myself!
  6. Just doing to final packing and last minute frantic fretting trying to think what I have forgotten.... see you all tomorrow some time after lunch!
  7. Delamere forest is not bad compared to Widnes. on clear nights the milkyway is readily visible. The Liverpool astronomy society based at Pex hill have regular delamere meets. They have permission to enter the forest after dark. usually a good number of people attend. the other suggestions of Llyn Brenig and Moel Famau are good as well , although they have started locking the carpark at sundown making it a bit more awkward.
  8. Yeah I agree very nicely done Ian
  9. Looks good to me! thanks for sharing this image
  10. That's stunning! So much detail!
  11. Yes I am sure the engineering prowess of the 50's is every bit as good as today. If anything they had a greater challenge as the materials available were less advanced as they are today. Hats off to anyone who is willing to jump from these extreme heights irrespective of what time in history it happens!
  12. I hope so! Maybe I should join the queue at your telescope lol!
  13. To think Kittinger did a similar jump over 50 years ago just shows the guts he had to do it with limited kit of the day. I look forward to seeing the footage from the Redbull stratos jump ~
