Sunspots 1428, 1429 and 1430 photographed on 2012-03-06 at 14:35 UT from Frösön, Sweden. The big sunspots sure was a beauty to watch through my solar telescope. Several big prominences was also clearly visible.

Different road i'm afraid. You can get baader solar film for making a solar filter, but it only gives you whitelight views, which are basically a white-ish disk, with visible sunspots etc. Views like above are achieved with a dedicated solar scope (eg a coronado PST), which only allow very narrow wavelengths of light through.

Thanks for all you comments.

The photo was taken using a Coronado 60mm Ha-front filter on a WO ZenithStar 80mm telescope. The image consists of 8 images (4 for the surface and 4 for the protuberances) that I've stitched together to a panoramic view of the entire solar disc.

How much would it set me back to get the same scope(scopes?) and filters?

Excellent detail and all round great image.

I don't know the prices in the UK, but if I convert the Swedish price it's in the region £1,500 for a HA fronfilter and a blocking filter. The scope I'm using is about £500.

No it is this scope. And yes it can be used for visible light, in fact its not actually designed as a solar scope at all. Nice though.

The reference to Coronado is for the filter not the scope. But in this case the filter is by far the most expensive part.

By the way Gost fantastic image sir. Incredible detail.
