I've just got back from the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, having just watched the 'The Secret Life Of Stars' it certainly puts things into perspective.

Awe inspiring stuff. Just the earth compared to the sun blows my mind. I believe Arcturus would almost reach Jupiter if it was placed where our sun is. I find most of this stuff beyond comprehension.

But so huge when we study the micro cosmos we live in. Compared to an atom, we sure are big:eek:

I love videos like these. As small as we are every atom in the universe is as important as all the others which makes us very significant. I think that is a beautiful thought and shows we are not insignificant as many people think when they first realise just how big things get up there

Awesome sizes, true, and yet each of us is more complex and incomprehensible than the biggest star, or galaxy, or even the cosmic web. We are a bit of stardust contemplating our origins, and the universe at large. We are not just getting better at understanding the universe, we are even getting better at understanding ourselves. That is the most awesome thought in my opinion.
