Hmmm. This would make an attractive garden centrepiece, and would be a talking point of interest to guests.

Seriously however, how many astro socs could properly accommodate that at short notice? The load of 60s electronics won't be much fun, either - well, I'm sure there are plenty of "old tech" geeks who'd love to have a look at it, but modernising it won't be cheap or quick 'n' easy.

But I love the idea of using a netbook to select a target on CdC, then that thing rumbles into motion!

Wonder how much the crane hire and haulage cost would be to Herefordshire - SGL could have our own observatory at the campsite !

The crane hire to lift our dome on cost £650 cash 12 years ago!.

Agree, once you stick an ST80 on top I think you`d overload it.

I was thinking of mounting a National Geographic refractor on it, but I don't like the look of some of the support work on the mount.

I wonder what sort of offer they would consider? I mean what is a 'scope and mount like that worth today realistically?

They will probably end up trying to give it away, the problem for a taker would be the transport and rehousing cost..
