some good stuff to catch tonight

Hi

Praying for a clear night.... i wanna show my little brother and sister some good objects in the night sky and also give them a chance to try and find them. any ideas for what i can look for would use stellarium but cannot install it on my freinds computer so im all ears

i look forward to hearing some suggestions

How about Jupiter; Orion; M31, M33, M41..?

M34, M35, M36, M37, M38 - the best open clusters in the sky! Oh, and of course M45... :-)

Doubles? Almach is a must-see and very easy to find. Rigel is much more challenging as is Alnitak - both easy to find but hard to split. Gamma Arietis is also good, an easy split and a nice equal pair, but a bit harder to find.

Jupiter is always a good object to show others. Also recommend M31, M42, Almach. A variety of different objects would probably be good. If you like clusters then there's M71, M15, M34 and the Double Cluster.

How about M57 the Ring Nebula, M13 globular cluster in Hercules. They should still be high enough if you are not out too late. Jupiter, M31 and M15,

Sounds optimsitic - looking out from my window I will be checking out cirrus, cirrocumulus, cirrostratus, altocumulus, altostratus, stratocumulus and of course my favourite nimbostratus

ive been out tonight the orange glow was ridiculous. apart from jupiter and the pleaides ,could hardly see a thing. three hours and cold toes for little reward,still thats the way it goes...

Showed my kids Jupiter and its Galilean Moons tonight.

Youngest were in awe, eldest was more interested in X Factor.

Fantasic Night up in South Humberside (North Lincs if you prefer) M13, 31, 32, 45, 110, Double cluster, Orion Nebula: all very nice indeed.
