Coco
I was using the skywatcher EQ6 extension tube as an extension to my pier, trouble is it wasn't tall enough so I made my own, I didn't have the steel and plate so I made it out of alloy tubing and 6mm plate alloy that was in stock from a previous venture.. Tigged up and she looks well! Just to make sure the vibration was minimal I put a 13mm steel rod and concrete down the centre..Its 'rock' solid Hope you approve.. George
Nice job Guy, I find welding alloy extremely difficult but Im OK with steel. I did something similier moving from a newt to an all frac setup meant the pier was too short. I made it taller by 15" so the view would clear my walls.Pier before modification. Coco
Looks great, Guy, oh how I'd love to be able to weld!I've been welding a brazing since 11 years old, at 14 I used to work Saturdays fixing car MOT failures at my local garage, I find welding very therapeutic especially gas on sheet steel... Off to 'night school' for you then Steve
Psychobilly
Nice job Guy...I sub most of my welding out to the guys at my mates fabrication company but they do give me the odd "lesson" from time to time...Peter...
Freff
That's a great job Coco, I'd love a bash at ali welding. I can gas and arc weld and even done some lead burning in my time, but never had a go on Tig. Stainless is something else I'd like to try.
