  1. Why it’s not going to be raining!
  2. It’s for the secondary mirror on my dobsonian and I don’t fancy fitting a heater to it with all that’s entailed.
  3. I have just ordered a heated dew shield for my Mak and a dew strap and controller for my 4” apo.
  4. I’ve been told that they are good for the secondary mirror
  5. I was just about to buy myself a 12v hairdryer for those extra dewy nights. However how do the folk that own one actually power it? The ones I found are in the region of 150w - 170w which equates to around 15A! Thanks
  6. Another 👍from me regarding going the BST route. If buying on a budget then they are the way to go.
  7. DPD deliveries today. A couple of 18mm BCO’s and a 2.6x glass path corrector to go with the 1.7x GPC I already have. Both for my Maxbright II. Just to get another 12.5mm or 14mm Morpheus to make up my third and last pair.
  8. I’ve sold quite a few recently so at the moment I’m left with 6 x Baader Morpheus 1 x ES 24mm 68 degrees 1 x Baader aspheric 31mm 2 x Vixen silvertop 26mm plossl’s 1 x 17mm Vixen silvertop plossl 2 x Celestron widefield plossl’s 32mm/40mm 1 x ES 1.25” tele extender 1 x Vixen Silver 2x barlow. 1 x 12.5mm illuminated reticle I also have the usual collection of supplied with scopes cheap eyepieces in a corner somewhere. I am also now just starting out on collecting pairs for my new binoviewer and only have the pair of 26mm Vixen silvertop plossl’s for now.
  9. Congratulations, it’s one nice telescope.
  10. Another thumbs up 👍 for the Baader 2” clicklock diagonal. Fantastic diagonal.
  11. Did you end up buying the one from the eBay seller then?
  12. It does say eventually in small print 😂
  13. Thanks for your detailed review of these Nirvanas, and as you say at a very reasonable price.
  14. Another thumbs up for the HoTech laser collimator. Like @Mr Spock I check my collimation on my Dobsonian before each session. Since upgrading the springs on my mirror cell it seldom needs to be tweaked. When it does it’s simplicity itself.
  15. Do you know that Synta and Orion have had a fallen out? I hope this doesn’t affect the delivery of your scope
  16. This is my main eyepiece set, with my other one containing my Vixen plossl’s and barlow along with Explore Scientific 2x extender and wide field eyepieces.
  17. They are the same telescope, with the difference being the dovetail and finder scope positioned differently. They are obviously painted differently as well. What I have been told regarding the aperture discrepancy is that the mirror is indeed 127mm in diameter, but due to the optical design and light path tracing only 119mm is utilized. HTH Ian
  18. Yes it’s the Amazon basics model. The only thing I had to do to mine was to apply some quality grease onto the ball joint as it was rather dry when I got it delivered. It’s now smooth as butter in its movements.
  19. I’m thinking about getting one myself, so I’ll be interested in how you get on with it in the field. Thanks Ian
  20. Did your bayonet screw on easily enough? Mine seizes after one complete turn! If I turn it around and put it on backwards it screws on no problem. The threads must be askew. I tried to buy one online, but it’s not sold on its own. The Widescreen Centre have ordered a replacement bayonet from Baader.
  21. He has the 20x80’s which has the bar and bracket already fitted
  22. Just bought myself a couple of Celestron plossl’s (Vixen) 26mm for my Maxbright II binoviewer. They are in excellent condition.
  23. No you are all set to attach your 20x80’s directly to the tripod.
  24. I have the same tripod and it will easily handle the 20x80’s
