  1. Have you done first light, x234 magnification I see. Is the Tasco the best 3" refractor ever..... 😀
  2. Since its parfocal even more interested. What a waste of time on CN.
  3. From Mr Ludes here more factory news , my questions and factory answeres Some advises and questions 1, what ist he eyerelief from top of mechanic at different focal length ? 7.7mm: eyerelief is 18mm 15.4mm:eyerelief is 20mm 2, can you do again dual barrel 1.25“/2.“ Like on XWA eyepieces ? Yes, similar to XWA 1.25 and 2” barrel 3, can you engrave for astronomy use the focal length and not the power on the eyepiece ? Yes, our other zoom eyepieces are with focal length.7.7,8.7,10.2,12.2,15.4 4, can you design the top to accept the Tele Vue Astigmatism corrector called Dioptricx > https://www.televue...._page.asp?id=54 ? more details here > https://www.widescre...-corrector.html This adapter should be easy to make, we plan to make this corrector on our eyepieces 5. Whats the body diameter ? The diameter of the largest part (rubber grip) is 53.8mm, and the diameter of the remaining part is 53mm or so. 6. Will the new Zoom be parfocal on all length ? It is parfocal at different focal length. 7. If you can do the eyeside with a conical shape you will increase very much the sales 1.25”barrel is straight, the top shape is conical like XWA If you can do click stop zoom you gain another better sale It's a little bit complicated and difficult to add to this device The eyecup is similar to the 12.5eyepiece, fold-up. We have designed two product style, the right one looks very nice.
  4. Saw the CN thread, scan read it as so much *froth*. Thought I ask the question on SGL as I thought it would not cause *noise* until we got a definite answer.
  5. The cost of living is on the up as well in the Far East, I suspect in the end it will meet in the middle. Issue is the twenty/thirty years in between where an equilibrium was being found.
  6. I didn't plan for a long outage, the longest our village has been without electricity is a week over xmas five years ago. Luckily it was just half the village, the pubs where still operational and cooked everyones xmas lunch where they could. Having a second car helps if one is used as a generator. Interesting idea about using PHEVS to generate energy to store overnight.
  7. I once plotted get a PHEV. You can run the power in reverse and power the house from the car. That way you don't have some machinery hanging around that you don't know its going to work until it's too late.
  8. @Don Pensack Is it going to be parafocal and does it have an undercut? All first world problems.
  9. The waiting list is the cachet of the brand. I know 50% of the cost is the lens cell. Hence this is paid for upfront when you've won the AP lottery and then usually the rest closer to the delivery time. The longer lead times and the lack of escrowed accounts I feel needs to be addressed.
  10. I'm sure in the past, for example with an online retailer like Amazon You would order an item. The item's would show as pending on your credit card. Once dispatched you would be charged. This makes more sense to me, seems the shops and credit card companies are being given a free ride here...
  11. Surely thats a post for "What the postman brought today" thread 😀 In seriousness where can I reserve an item, and pay when it is in stock? I cannot do that at Flo for instance.. Only UK retailer is RVO which will accept a deposit for large items (Telescopes/Binoculars) with full balance payable when shipped to them.
  12. It's a choice, but that in reality thats not an option. Given that people use credit cards the risk if really with the card holder and they pocket the credit until the goods are delivered. I'd like to know a retailer who will reserve an item without payment?
  13. The new normal seems to be pay for items up front and then wait months for them to turn up. I'm sure the funds are kept in a holding account until the items are shipped, but still...
  14. Interestingly the car industry is being hit by shipping charges as well as the clothes industry. see: https://www.politico.eu/article/shipping-container-shortage-hits-global-trade-freight-prices/ No elasticity in demand for them, hence price will need to be absorbed and maybe larger margins/credit lines as well.
  15. Nice scope. Tennis ball bumpers or something else?
  16. Waiting on APM’s huge order to arrive, ETA is mid March.
  17. KUO makes all of APM eyepieces as far a I know.
  18. From the pictures this will work well with Bino's. Given how well APM XWA series received lots to look forward too.
  19. http://astrograph.net/epages/www_astrograph_net.mobile/?ObjectPath=/Shops/www_astrograph_net
  20. Is the Stellarvue a clone of the XWA design, just a baffle and a steel tube on the bottom? Shame not available outside of US.
  21. The C11 is around 11 kg. However once mounted + items added the weight will increase, a G11 or SXP2 will do. The increase in light you get over the C9.25 is a lot, that needs to be offset against how many nights the atmosphere will support the C11 aperture. The main issue for me is dewing which an RC and Mewlon seem to be more resistant to.
  22. You will enjoy looking at the moon tonight, if it clears up. 🤞
  23. How does size effecting dewing these SCT’s? I know RC and Mewlons are less dew prone, however the C11 is a bit of a light bucket, so tempting, apart from its weight. Almost would need an observatory to house it in. 😊
  24. Like somewhere else. I wonder where... 🙂 To be honest now thing SGL site does well is the latest posts on other zones so you can see whats going on.
