  1. Me too. The LZOS has 220 mm of back focus making them very BV friendly and cool down is not much slower then my 4”. To be honest set up time compared to the 4” is only a couple of more minutes that I’ve not used the 4” in months. BV last week on the moon was very rewarding.
  2. Carrying on the APO action, here is my LZOS getting frosted up: By the way first time out with BV's, no GPC required at all to gain focus with UFF 10 mm and 24 mm UFF. All very good! A little later A little bit latter Look ma no dew!
  3. This is quite a complex subject for instance take Barnard loop, this requires a dark site (at least +21 SQM) and H-Alpha filter to really see. Aperture will not help you, all about contrast. So what type of objects do you want to apply this calculation too, are you including or excluding extended objects like those found in the sharpless catalog?
  4. Nice pictures @Stu. I'm plotting to get my BV's out tonight on the moon with my LZOS, hopefully another good night!
  5. Maybe your 5" will work? Not that you need an excuse. Have you got around to trying out your TOE 3.3 mm on it?
  6. No photo of your scope John, it's not against the law is it? 😃
  7. Yes. its very good. My scope was frozen last week, but the lens was clear. The handle was freezing, nearly stuck to my fingers when I took the scope back inside.
  8. Will do. Have some filters arriving as well. Of interest a Baader 6.5 nm f2 H-Alpha which is getting good feed back int he US. I'll see how the NVD contrast booster works in conjunction with these filters.
  9. Would be an ideal setup if you could. Very nice!
  10. How much back focus has the 76 got with the FT attached? Do you still need to use a GPC (or that other corrector you have) when using BV's?
  11. I have an ONVI B, last one sold by Astrograph. Harder tube specs below. Still waiting some of the filters to turn up, all early days... Also a 20 mm XWA and 10 mm UFF, not felt the need to post. Gavins new tube is of course twice as good. 😀
  12. I'd go and read up on the CN threads, I agree with @JeremyS does not look positive on this scope. Given how quickly Celestron SCT's are going up in price and availability I can imagine why you are looking at alternatives.
  13. OVNI decided to sell direct only. I hear where you are coming from on imaging versus NV cost however I don't have time to do the post processing and want a view that is real time. Also I don't have the time to go to a dark site, even although my garden is SQM 20.89 it's not dark enough for what I want to see. Most of the NV users I know in the states want to go deep and have 24" to 30" Dob. What they do not have is a contrast boost, i.e. live under SQM 21.8 skies. For sizes of aperture of scope available to amateurs no amount of aperture going to help with a SQM below 21, you need a different guide of optical assitance and aperture in this case is not the answer.
  14. In what way, NV is mono chrome so is scotopic vision? See @GavStar below video, some thing like this would of been good on last nights program. video-1641768552.mp4
  15. A 24" dob will cost the same and show you less than NV, and thats a middle of the road Dob, not a SV or Lock wood...
  16. It would of been good if they had allowed @GavStar to of narrated one of his YouTube tours of the sky using NV. Then for once you would get a feeling for what is possible and indeed out there.
  17. I have an Antila 3 nm in bound and a Baader 6.5 nm f2 filter. No chroma to compare with…
  18. Is that new? There is a missing a TSA-120 to balance things up?
  19. What other filters have you got?
  20. How much does SQM at observing site effect speed you need to run scope at? i.e. For example in Wimbledon presume you can only use a 41 mm, panoptic for photography whereas in IOW you could use the 41 mm afocally for visual?
  21. Did you consider using telephoto lens instead of buying another scope?
  22. APM UFF EP's also feature an M34 thread where digi scoping adapters exist. Need to look at M44.5 thread for XWA range.
  23. How does the LZOS perform on the A75? Do I see dew heaters? Thought they where for mirrored scopes. Mine had what looked like frost on the tube when I got it in, none on the lens.
