  1. Thank you for the reply .... Didn't know that az gotos are not polar aligned. Haven't got round to using this mount as a eq.
  2. Sorry Guys typo error .. yes should read SynScan ...... Using it with AZ-GTI mount and mobile phone, so Synsacn knows my location, time and date from the phone. I was just trying to determine if polar alignment is good enough with polaris or does it need aligning to true north? Thanks for your inputs.
  3. When setting up on Polaris, does the synscan software know the true north offset as it knows my location and the date.??? Or is this not relevant anyway??
  4. I can not praise First Light Optics highly enough, after I had a problem with a purchase I emailed them, quickly had a reply to send unit back, courier arrived next day to collect. Contact from the guys at FLO was excellent and they kept me informed .... waiting for new stock to arrive ..... stock arrived and the very next day it was dispatched and I received it 1 day later (that is today Christmas Eve) I judge how good a company is not when all things go smoothly but how good they are when something goes wrong. So thank you FLO and all the team there. ...... have a Merry Christmas, and stay safe. Paul
  5. wow what great information ... thanks. .. I have a lot to learn
  6. Even my Honda Goldwing had a reverse gear.
  7. You used to be able to go to the small post office there and have them frank the stamps with their location rubber stamp... so "Posted in Bethlehem" would be on your christmas cards (for a small fee to charity) but think they stopped it. 8. I;m pretty sure I read that they dont know what time of year Jesus was born, but religious institutions decided that winter was free of events so went for December.
  9. Nicely done, looks like the pyramids ... total cloud cover here
  10. From a complete newby congratulations on a great forum.
  11. Thanks @wimvb for that, but surely the f stop wont affect the FOV will it,
  12. Ok thanks everyone that answers my question and I have a chart I can look up if I chose a different lens.
  13. Canon 80D was hoping to get the FOV of both ends... 70mm and 200mm. Thanks for that but the site is a bit confusing to me ... as it shows Telescope and eyepiece, and I have neither.
  14. Hi.. Can anyone tell me what the fov will be for my camera 70-200mm lens.. And what is the fov of the moon. Thanks in advance
  15. Updated the firmware and problem is still there ... nothing appears to cure it, hope FLO respond to my email to them on monday.
  16. Control via smartphone, and yes co-ords on ok, tried the remove battery tip left all night but still same, also got the SynScan ap on my laptop and tried that but still the same. If I switch aux encoder on it does stop at the correct place, but just for a while, and when I confirm the mount Elev starts to go round and round again.
  17. I read on another forum to remove batteries and leave for over 4 hours, so going to give that a try today.
  18. Its firmware 3.26 so scope on right hand side, also it was working ok until today, although as I said only got it on tuesday and no clear skies but was working ok ... slewing and stopping where it should while dummy testing it ... I'm begining to believe its faulty. Have sent FLO an email.
  19. Ok will give that a go, if not will send FLO an email.... but thanks for all your help, will let you know.
