A Problem with my new dobsonian
Spacecake2 replied to Spacecake2's topic in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
Sorry for replying so late, but a few hours ago I fixed it😐 (so sorry you had to waste time replying to this topic). I unassembled the two plates that spin and found out that there was a nail (the ones that put the mount together) not tightened enough! It was the nail I used 10 minutes trying to tighten, because the nail was a little bit broken. Anyway... thanks for trying to help🙂 Kind regards -
Hi everyone, Yesterday, I bought a new 10” dobsonian telescope and I tried it out on Saturn. I’m not used to manual telescopes as I used a computerised telescope. My problem is that whenever I try to raise the dob, the mount keeps leaning forward, and even if I loosen the handles on both sides, it still does it. Is it suppose to be like that or did I just assemble it wrong. The mount is also hard to rotate. Are there suggestions for why it does that and how to fix it :). Kindregards

But.. i do get to see the: Running chicken nebula, the California nebula, Carina nebula, Orion nebula, cone nebula, NGC2239, 47 Tucanae and some other dso:).

I don't get to see m13, m57 and the Andromeda galaxy because it doesn't get high enough😧...
-
At least you can even get to try view it, for me it doesn’t even get high enough for me to see it. 😀

Hi, I haven’t attempted to see deep sky at all except the Orion Nebula, and last night I tried observing the helix nebula and the Triangulum Galaxy with no luck:(. I used star walk and sky safari to locate the but I couldn’t see anything through the scope, so used the GOTO function and I tried it on Mars and it was aligned, but when I point it to the Helix nebula and the Triangulum Galaxy there was nothing except black (and the helix nebula was even close to the zenith!). But with the Orion Nebula, I could see a faint smudge. What am I doing wrong? (and I live in bottle 6.8 :(. Kind regards, Neil

New to astronomy - 1st Telescope
Spacecake2 replied to Maggie_'s topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
Agreed. 🙂 -
Thank you! It finally worked! I didn't know where the Bin folder was. i copied the three files to the autostackkert fold and deleted the ffmpeg folder and it worked. 😀😁
-
I downloaded it and put it in the same folder as as3! but it came up with the same thing as last time. 😐 Am I extracting it right?
-
Thank you for your help Merlin66, but when I try download ffmpeg, It doesn't allow me to access the file:

I have a computerised telescope as well (Nextar 127slt), mine works perfectly for me. First, try use Sky Align or Two star Align (preferably Sky Align) to have a more accurate tracking. 2. I have the 12-dc adapter and the appropriate power bank, and the power seems a little stronger. 3. If it said alignment successful then the tracking should be correct. Does it happen over and over when you try to look at mars? if it does then maybe contact mail@celestronsupport.com or your retailer.

I know how to convert to avi compressed file, but auto stackkert doesn't allow COMPRESSED avi video file. Only allow uncompressed avi file. ☹️

Astrophotography Telescope suggestions
Spacecake2 replied to DamienBoath's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
Maybe an 8" computerised like a Nextar 8 se? -
Thanks everyone, Does anyone know how to change a MOV. or MP4 file to an uncompressed AVI. file because a tried using Auto Stackkert3 but I had compressed AVI. video and it didn't allow the file. All the other files it allows are picture files like png and tiff.
-
Yes, I have and it came up with the same thing. ☹️

Hi there, I have a problem using Registax 6 when it keeps having a blank screen when I start to stack. It keeps saying: has anyone got any solutions? This the first time a tried aligning and stacking an image and it happened) Any help would be great, Regards,
-
So much detail.

The self-aligning works quite well if you centre the objects correctly. If you live with low light pollution, then the computerised telescope works well with deep sky. You might want to get a 15mm or 12m eyepiece and 2x Barlow lens to have maximum useful magnification. (Also for more people to reply, start a new topic).

Cool! I have the Nextar 127slt as well 😀.
