  1. I agree with you regarding your core temperature, I was toasty warm in my core, I think I'll purchase the ones space cadet linked me to, but whilst I was looking for them I inadvertently went to @FLO and purchased a hyperflex zoom 7.2-21.5mm eyepiece ,how do these things happen 😉😊, clear skies
  2. I know what you mean, I was getting butterflies all afternoon, hoping the skies would stay clear and nearer the time to take the scope outside I was trying to keep busy, sorting my equipment to take outside and clothes sorted for wrapping up. Thankfully it stayed clear. My skymax 137 was giving beautiful views and an absolute beast on the moon and planets, I must of taken 15 video files to process today I just lost myself in the moon, so much to explore there, though would of liked to get the chance to view the moon tonight as my favourite sinus iridium will be looking great tonight. Clear skies
  3. Yes it sure is a fantastic hobby or with me obsession 😁👍
  4. Great report pixies I'm pleased you finally got out after doing your online shop. You certainly collected a fair few doubles and a good tour of Luna, the seeing was excellent last night with the clear cold weather, I hope your equipment survived the cold well, clear skies
  5. That's a great video of the conjunction in 2017, nice capture with your dslr. Clear skies
  6. Nice report Rob, I'm getting into lunar observing and imaging, the Lunar 100 sounds a fascinating project to do, clear skies
  7. Thank you Paz, it's to much to risk when carrying your equipment about especially on icy footing, got to treat our equipment like babies, it was getting very icy even here in North Cornwall
  8. Absolutely stunning, I'd buy this 😁
  9. Thanks space cadet, I'm just about to look on amazon now 👍
  10. Superb report Kon, you can feel your excitement oozing out of the report. It's amazing when you can share your viewings with your family or friends to give them a sense of how magnificent the night sky is and puts everything in perspective. Good luck with Saturn later in the year, clear skies 👍
  11. You had a good session tonight also Space cadet, it was a bit of a melting process bringing the kit in earlier wasn't it, the beautiful moon was showing off most definitely. Thank you with your fingerless gloves recommendation, I'll puruse the net for some. Let's hope my images mirror my excitement tonight 😊
  12. I'm pleased you had a good session tonight. I think I was definitely over excited 🥳
  13. Thank you John, I'm just loving finally doing proper stargazing at last. Your session sounds amazing and some nice targets acquired. The moon was definitely looking beautiful tonight.
  14. Good luck with the online shop pixies 🙄 and for your observing later, hope you have a good evening, the cloud has rolled in now and snow forecast in the night here
  15. Loved every minute of it Kon, I hope it was clear for you.
  16. Beautiful image John, the moon was looking amazing tonight, lovely capture of the 3 Riles, I pushed the imaging mag on my skymax 127 tonight to get in close but nowhere as good as yours. 👍
  17. Wow the second date with this beauty was even better than the first. With the skies clear blue all day and promising a good few hours of stargazing this evening I set up my scope and mount, remembering to level the mount this time around! I put the scope onto cool and got the North level alignment position set up using a geographical north compass app and polar aligner Pro app to get the scope level. Earlier in the day I updated the firmware so I can put the scope on the right side so my rdf is correctly positioned and I don't have to contort into wierd poses. Whilst cooling I got all the ep's arranged and in relevant pockets and the laptop fired up ready for the zwo asi120mc-s and sharcap. North level aligned using Capella and Mars. Then straight to the beautiful moon, connected my dslr first and fired off 70 odd raw images, then I cvoukd see the ISS zipping across the sky just below the moon, I tried to get it in shot but failed miserably (another target to put on the list for imaging), then connected my zwo and toured around the Moon capturing my planned targets of Plato, Copernicus, Clauvius, Tyco and my favourite Sinus Iridum, though it wasn't fully viewable. Then I connected the zwo with my 2x Barlow to repeat the targets for much more close ups and despite the real high magnification not sure how much but probably way past the practical mag of the scope but I like pushing the boundaries. I really have fallen back in love with the Moon and so much to explore and map. Then to Mars (which was looking really good) and Uranus again as a lot of other targets were out of reach with my scope and the light levels. But I don't care the moon is where I want to be right now, as I can get my set up outside. After 2 hours I had to come in although I was well wrapped up in my clothes, onesie, thermal socks, hat and fur lined boots, mh hands were getting cold as I find it hard with any type of gloves when handling items and the laptop, if anyone knows a good pair they use I'd love to hear. I was beginning to see frost forming on the mount, scope body and rucksack, I didn't want to risk things so I packed up and brought everything in. Will spend the day processing my captures moro. Sorry its another long wittering report from me but I'm like an astronomer with unlimited money to spend at FLO, so excited I don't know where to turn and become a jibbering mess. I hope others have had an exciting clear night. 😁👍🌌🔭
  18. 100% agree with you here, the sgl forum is so friendly, informative and helpful. It's the only place I trust to give me the right advice and help, I'm a beginner still and love learning on here for our fascinating hobby/obsession.
  19. Thank you Dario, for these 2 images, I took the captures using my zwo asi120 mcs and 2xbarlow on my skymax 127 az gti mount. The mars capture was 33 seconds and Uranus was only 6 seconds. I then processed in PIPP then stacked in Autostakkert 3 and the resulting file I used wavelets in Regisatx 6 and a final tweak in Photoshop. Clear skies
  20. Very Very late to the party on this one, but as I've just got a Az gti mount and my red dot finder on my skymax 127 is a the bottom like yours, im hoping that this firmware download with sort yours and my issue out. Edit.. I've downloaded and installed the firmware now and my rdf is now in the proper position, now I won't have to crouch and squat in awkward positions to use my rdf. Firmware: AZGTi Mount, Right Arm, AZ/EQ Dual Mode, Version 3.20 http://skywatcher.com/download/software/motor-control-firmware/ Clear skies
  21. It sure does, when I was looking at Uranus through the ep it was a very dark sky blue colour.
  22. Thank Nik, I would of loved to of had this mount when Mars was in opposition last year and what results I would of had with it compared to the results I had through my bedroom window pane on my old heavy eq3-2 mount. Clear skies
  23. Good luck pixies, I'm hoping to get a few hours in this evening please, clear skies
  24. Hi Robin, have you had any progress on getting your mount back yet. Regarding your power option for the mount, I use a talent cell 12v rechargeable battery pack, this was suggested by another member on here in another post. I've only used my set up once so far but I have to say the talent cell pack was great, it was very cold and the battery ran well though I was only using it for 2 hours but it would of lasted much much longer. I would if got a larger power tank but I wanted easy portability and this fitted the bill.
