  1. Thanks Dave, great advice taken on board. I have seen the SW heritage 130 flexitube before and wasn't sure about the missing shroud but will research it on the on the internet more and around £142. Yes I'm comfortable with the table top dob style scopes so far. On the issue of the barlow lens Iv'e seen an orion one for £31 on amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Orion-08711-Shorty-1-25-Inch-Barlow/dp/B0000XMWQW/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=orion+shorty&qid=1588871210&s=electronics&sr=1-1
  2. Hi Dave Thank you for your reply. I have to say what kind and thoughtful members are on here and don't take the mickey or judge beginner users. The barlow lens i have is just a bog standard normal one and not branded (my inexperience again buying this and not expensive so cheap meant crap) Sadly the lens from the barlow i have doesnt screw on correctly to my 20mm or 10mm ep so i think I'll need a new barlow lens. Do you think the celestron branded one or the orion shorty be best for my celestron 76x300mm scope and what is a reasonable price youd pay for them. Sorry for being this inexperienced but thank you for your comments.
  3. Thank you for your reply and comments which are taken on board. What kind of upgrade to this do you recommenced eg aperture size would a 114, 127, 130 be any good, my budget is tight mybe upto £150-180
  4. When i put the barlow on the 20mm ep the focus wont go any further to get a clear view as its blurred when viewing the moon but i guess when viewing further away objects would pull into focus
  5. HI Dave The 20 and 10 mm EP came with the scope , i bought the Barlow in my inexperience. Mainly id like to get good detail of the moon and planets really. So you think a 25mm EP would be good?
  6. Hi I have a clestron cometron 76x300mm scope and have a barlow x2, 20 mm and 10 mm eyepiece, what other size EP would you recommend for viewing the moon.
  7. Hi I tried to photo the moon tonight while it was clear for an hour, not great photos, kept trying to alter iso but wasn't clear, I expect my huwaei p20 lite camera not upto the job as f is only 2.2,used camera fv5 and with moon filter on 20mm and 10mm eyepieces.
  8. Welcome to sgl, here in North Cornwall has some good dark skies, when it's bit cloudy or foggy
  9. Great image, no moon here misty and foggy
  10. Hi Thank you for the advice I will try this thank you and will post a photo when its clear enough and if its worthy of posting here :)
  11. Hi Yes I've downloaded the Pro version and looks much like a dslr screen with the adjustments to be made, total newbie here but would iso of 800 be good to start on and longer exposure time?
  12. Hi Thank you for your reply to my post, those are superb photos I'd be proud to of taken something like those, I thought setting to infinity focus was best, as to playing with iso and exposure what is the bench mark to set to and then adjust ftom there. Cheers
  13. Hi thanks for your reply, I'll look at that thank you and for the photos supplied. I'd like to start with taking lunar shots and get them ok with my huwaei p20 lite smartphone as I don't have a dslr. What are the best settings for say the moon and other planets or star clusters using this app. I have a smart phone camera mount to provide more stable photos. Cheers
  14. Hi Yes my smartphone is a huwaei p20 lite and has a good camera with Pro settings, but couldn't see an infinity focus that I seen on some videos they say to use. I'll look at the suggestions though thank you.
  15. Hi Yes I'm beginning to realise that at the moment lol, thank you for your welcome.
  16. Hi Thank you for your welcome. Hoped the skies will clear here soon and can get to use my new scope. We will welcome you back down once the restrictions are lifted. Delabole is pronounced as you said in the first instance, you'll be surprised at the number of visitors that say it the Spanish way.
  17. Hi I was hoping you could help me for an app or best settings for an android smart phone to take photos. Cheers
  18. Anywhere in North Cornwall would be worth a visit once restrictions are lifted as we all need to get out and about 😊I'd expect this locat8 be great skies permitting
  19. Hi Thank you everyone for such a kind warm welcome. Yes knight of clear skies I think it's a good scope and very impressed so far. Looking forward to using it more.
  20. Hi, welcome ftom Delabole
  21. Hi From Delabole, Cornwall I'm just starting out in astronomy, I used to use my old 7x50 binoculars I had as a child and really got back into looking atvthe night sky feeling in awe of how small we are and the expanse of space. I have recently bought a celestron cometron 76x300mm scope (don't snigger 😉) and not had any clear nights yet but they'll come. Just wanted an entry level cheap scope and had good reviews. I like it so far and it's a good scope for my purposes so far in learning more about the night sky. Will try to take photos when the nights clear. Just wanted to say hello basically.
