  1. What a lovely photo! It seems you managed to get some nice star colour even in SHO. Nice framing too.
  2. Unfortunately, it's the only way and there are so many variables... Moon phase, optical glass, atmospheric conditions, LP...so even on the same rig I don't think you can truely compare filters. I would like to see some independent testing of these filters. They're probably not as good as the chromas, I have seen some subs on another forum with a few halos around bright stars. Also not sure how they compare to the baader ultra narrowband which I think are only 1nm more. I guess just look at astrobin at pics taken with both and go with the ones you prefer?
  3. I know it's been posted around here a lot when it comes to Imaging time taking into account light pollution but if you haven't already seen it I'd highly recommend watching Robin Glover's talk on cmos/ccd imaging, I have definitely improved my imaging since watching it.

    Hi from Sussex

Hello and welcome from Sussex too! Quite a few of us now!
  5. That'a a great result! Shame about the sticker though, I guess I was lucky with mine.
  6. Thanks Carole, There's no rush on this so if you're on other projects at the moment we can absolutely wait until there's something that we want to use our 80mm's for.
  7. Would any of these targets work for you Carole? Have listed a few in order of preference 1. NGC 1491 2. NGC 7380 3. IC 1848 Happy for any suggestions you have too.
  8. Have to chime in and say fantastic image! Again, especially with only 51 mins. It's just behind my house at the moment but I'm looking forward to imaging it when it emerges later this month.
  9. This particular one was done by my-picture.co.uk It is a bit dark, I guess it's hard to tell how these prints will turn out once printed but at the same time I wouldn't want it do come out ultra light either. It's printed on dibond aluminium in matte
  10. Once you see it, you can't unsee it right 🤣
  11. Indeed, I hadn't thought of that... Good point. Maybe if we can get enough interest, 1 reflector per "team"?
  12. That's a pretty nice result for the amount of time. I'd actually be pretty interested in the result of multiple scopes all separated by significant distance if any.
  13. Oh yes absolutely! My lines of thinking were something like a large shared online area where people can post their subs. I think they should be pre calibrated to save on space and time for others. I think that is the most interesting part, to see everyones take on the data. I have a fairly obstructed view so I think if we can find a subject high up that may suit more people.
  14. Just received my heart Nebula print, I think it came out a bit dark but I love it nonetheless.
  15. No-one? guess everyone has seen my subs.... 😛
  16. Morning, I thought it might be an interesting project to do an imaging collaboration, not sure if anyone has attempted this on here before? I guess we'd all need fairly similar setups in terms of fov and arcseconds/pixel. And would need to agree on a target Anyone have any thoughts? Here's mine... Groups of people with similar setups Agree on target and share platesolvable image to frame the target Everyone takes subs for all the filters agreed on 1 month to take subs Share calibrated subs at the end Wyvern
  17. I think astrophotography purchases come in waves.. buy first dedicated setup...lots of cash then I need a longer focal length... more cash or I need tighter filters....
  18. That could will be the case, I remember now that the HA was so strong that it just blew out the OIII
  19. I found the oxygen pretty faint, and I did try as HOO but it didn't look quite right to me, others have managed to capture much better OIII data than me and have made lovely images without the SII.
  20. Thank you Jem! Yes I use the flat6a iii flattener/reducer, I think you're right 478/480mm might just be a bit too long for the heart. Although it could make an interesting target with melotte 1 and the fishhead like below.
  21. Absolutely! I don't think its overcooked. Very nice work!
  22. Is it wrong that I prefer the green version? Gives it a cool/creepy alien quality... Lovely photos though! I must try imaging this myself one day.
  23. Thank you Steve, appreciated!
