Morning All, I think this will be my final image for now and I'm fairly happy with it for my first hubble palette image. 30xHa 300s 34xOIII 360s 30xSII 360s As usual any feedback and tips for improvement would be massively appreciated. Wyvern

I had an old PC power supply laying around which I converted into my rig power supply. All the 12v and 5v I'll ever need!
-
Wow, phenomenal photo! I actually really like both images in different ways. Working on this target myself and will be happy if it turns out half as well as yours.

After a few days work I’ve now completed the replacement power/usb/focuser box. 1xusb hub (for usb 2 devices) 1x300w pc power supply 1x 45 amp/hour battery myfocuserpro2 lots of 5.5mm ports. I had the MVP version running last night and it worked really well. Just tidied up some connections and drilled some more holes to accommodate the focuser rs232 connection.

That's a really nice image, on Mark's point it might be worth having a play with starnet++. Sometimes if my stars aren't quite right I will use it to remove all the stars in each colour channel before combination and then just use the stars from the channel with the smallest (this just gives white stars) or just shoot 30mins or so of RGB data and use the stars from those. You've captured some nice whispy detail in there though andd I'd be very happy with that. Wyvern.

Getting Images Printed
Wyvernp replied to AstroExploring's topic in Imaging - Tips, Tricks and Techniques
There's quite a few suppliers discussed on this thread, Unless you want it pre-printed on a rigid board I'd try out some of the other suppliers that the one I suggested. -
Getting Images Printed
Wyvernp replied to AstroExploring's topic in Imaging - Tips, Tricks and Techniques
Hi, I've used quite a few of the online print companies. What are you planning to do with them? I only ask as you might want to consider different print mediums depending how you plan on displaying it. -
GT81 and Flat6aiii backfocus
Wyvernp replied to Wyvernp's topic in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
I remember now I promised to update this topic, I now have my backfocus set at 60.4mm and all star shapes all the way to the edges are now round. It's not 100% perfect on close inspection but the difference between this and the previous mosaic is chalk and cheese...and I love cheese. -
More deliveries today! Going to be turning this into my “electronics” box for my rig. Once finish it will have: - 45amp/hour battery - 200w pc power supply ( for the 12v rails) - arduino for the autofocus (myfocuserpro2) - switched power distribution for mount, cameras, usb hub and dew heaters. (All driven off the psu) Im also considering another arduino that can kill all power using an optical relay. So everything can be turned off at the end of a session. ill probably make a build thread in diy once I’m done.

Crosshatch pattern on SII stack
Wyvernp replied to Wyvernp's topic in Imaging - Image Processing, Help and Techniques
I have had it suggested that this could be an interpolation issue linked to low signal, I'm going to try a different method than lanczos. Failing that I will retake the subs with a much longer exposure. -
Hi All. I'm having a strange issue with my SII stacks. I used the same batchpreprocessing script in PI to do Ha, OIII and SII all at 300s so also used the same dark frames. I cant seem to see this pattern at all within the individual subs although there was a lot of high level cloud when they were taken. The flats were taken this morning using the SGP flats wizard again using the same process as usual with a white lit ipad screen with a white tshirt over the scope. Target ADU was 22000. subs were 4.5 secs-ish. I also tried stretching the master flat and could not see this pattern. Any ideas would be great.

I think it is more geared towards the professional but it wasn't too much trouble to get the picture onto their pdf template. https://www.pixartprinting.co.uk/wide-format/printing-flat-bed-rigid-materials/aluminium/ This is the one.

Thanks! The photo of it makes it look a bit washed out but it's fine in real life. Ooh I've not heard of metallic paper before. I believe these are printed directly onto the dibond sheet and then varnished. Yes, me too. That's the nice thing about this hobby, makes me look forward to winter!

Just received my dibond print of my veil mosaic, thrilled to say the least. The photo makes it look a little washed out when in fact it looks quite the opposite.

That is a really lovely image! Lots of fine detail and you've managed to come up with a really pleasing palette for a bi-colour image.

Ok, deleting the devices from (you have to click view -> show hidden devices in device manager) and reconnected in a different port and images now download fine. Small caveat... I have only connected this device without the usb hub through my active 10m cable.
-
Thanks, Yes I'm almost completely convinced that this is the case, I have tried different usb ports. Weirdly the camera only seems to appear in device manager if I plug it into 1 specific port. I may try uninstalling it and reinstalling when I attach it.

Morning all, Recently I have been struggling with usb connect/disconnect issues. For the most part my frames are ok but 1 in 5 lets say I get a beeping in SGP and the file cones down corrupted. Has anyone come accross this before? I'm fairly certain it may be down to usb issues so I am replacing my hub and active cable however It has all been working fine until recently. Cheers, Wyvern

Managed to get some good tests of the heart nebula in Ha last night with the Antlia Ha filter. 1x300sec @139 gain Stacked and calibrated Ha stack of 12 of the subs above. Really quite happy with the results of this. Lovely clean and detailed nebulosity.
-
Hurrah, took delivery of my Antlia 3.5nm Ha and SII filters today. Took the opportunity to de-dust my filter wheel whilst installing them. While not quite as good as the 3nm hopefully these will allow me a little more leeway when it comes to moon phase...hey what's .5nm between friends...

Nebulosity vs Starry sky stacker
Wyvernp replied to Blaze 1's topic in Imaging - Image Processing, Help and Techniques
I've heard good things about nebulosity but never used it myself. Not heard of starry sky stacker though. Before pixinsight I used to use Siril which I believe also has a mac version. -
SII ordered too....
