  1. Perfect! Thank you, the both of you. Great to see this can be fairly easily done.
  2. Thanks for the quick and useful reply. this is the underneath or the focuser. i see 2 holes either side of the QC sticker, the top one is free and the pictured bolt goes into it. The rest all seem to already be used. Worse case I can custom make a knob that can fit in the first 5 turns or so of the thread but I’d rather not have to.
  3. Afternoon, Quick question, has anyone fitted their GT81 with a MyfocuserproV2? I have a couple of Arduinos laying around and thought this would make for a fun project. Although looking at the mounting on the bottom of the focuser there seems only to be one screwhole which is unoccupied by a hex key screw. Am I ok to remove the other? Also do you remove the second focus knob and direct drive from the stepper or belt drive to the 10:1 focus knob? I have a mill so I think I can fabricate a suitable mount plate for it so I don't think that should be an issue. Any advise on these would be much appreciated. Wyvern.
  4. I've used both photobox and mypicture for aluminium prints and both have been excellent although mypicture can be a lot cheaper, not for astro but for diving photos which more often than not have a black background. you can run into issues with drizzled images as the pixel count is too high.
  5. Arrived just now... love the carry case and the colour. Looks a little ridiculous on the eq6-r though.
  6. Well I gave it a go last night, so much glow from the moon though! Plus I don't think my focus was quire right.
  7. Hi all, As the delivery date approaches I was curious as to what gain/offset people are using for this camera. I realise this will change depending on if you are shooting a galaxy or a nebula and even which filter you are using. But I wanted to get an idea for a starting point. Cheers, Wyvern
  8. That's a lovely shot. Going to give this another go tonight as I see it hit 8.5ish Magnitude last night. Fingers crossed it keeps getting brighter.
  9. I'm on the Iris nebula tonight, opposite side of the sky to the moon as well which helps.
  10. Just pulled the trigger on the GT81! just in time for the season I'm least likely to use it, but hey ho...I got a refund for what was going to be a diving holiday to the Philippines so I may as well enjoy it! Field flattener and autoguider to follow. Very excited to see what it can do.
  11. That's very kind. All the best for your session tonight.
  12. One of my favourites. Look forward to seeing the results.
  13. There's still a few planetary nebulae out there, might be worth a go. And some can be quite bright.
  14. If you're using photoshop I think you should be able to use https://www.spacetelescope.org/projects/fits_liberator/
  15. Wow, that is really lovely. May I ask what focal length this was taken at?
  16. Hey, I managed to capture a couple of hours of data on the IC1795 last night and am starting to capture some detail. Will carry on building up the number of exposures. 122x60 sec subs with olympus OMD E-M10, Nexstar 8se with f6.3 flattener/reducer. No filters. Fixing the wobble in the optical train has greatly reduced the coma but not completely.
  17. haha not wrong there! Are we the only group of people who hate it when the clocks go forward
  18. Yup indeed, the whole idea for the automated rig is so I can setup and go to sleep on those late summer nights (I'm not a natural night owl)
  19. Thanks! It is a cheaper one unfortunately, but I had it lying around and hoping the active USB cable will make up for that.. Will be the first thing I upgrade if I have connectivity issues.
