  1. Hi The weather has not been to good of late but at teatime the clouds dissipated and the Sun came out. I quickly set up my Skywatcher 80 ED on the AZ5 mount fitted with a full solar filter and was amazed to see lots of activity on the solar disc. I then waited for it to get darker and set up my Celestron Fi5 to view Saturn ,the seeing was so so but it did improve for a while but the clouds soon rolled in
  2. Hi I would consider a pair of 15x70 binoculars on a manfrotto mount these never fail to impress and are always useful for daytime use . I have a pair of Celestron 15x70 pro on a manfrotto mount all purchased from new under £400 quick and easy to use with great views, if hooked then go for a scope. My most used set up is a Skywatcher 80ed on a az5 mount
  3. Hi This is a great sight on a very dark evening and I just love it . I have a couple of Celestron goto set and as previously reported that during a handset sky tour it referred to the little coat hanger and it is a very similar image in the telescope
  4. Hi On the 14th of August I reported aa observing session that I had with my grandson and his girlfriend, he had taken some photos through the Celestron Fi5 and the they went away on holiday. Today he sent me this photo taken without proper focusing .
  5. Hi Just come in from some great views of Saturn I viewed the Sun yesterday
  6. Hi I have just completed a few hours of viewing the Moon ,Saturn ,and the moon with my grandson and his girlfriend, the have been fascinated with all the viewing last night now. My grandson is in to photography and I eagerly await to view his results . We viewed Saturn first and as the night wore on the seeing improved and then the Moon became observable followed by Jupiter . the conditions started to go downhill and we called it a night at 12.15 the image was with my phone we used a Celestron 6se and a Celestron Fi5 both on goto mounts
  7. when out tonight just to get an early view of the rising Moon,I wasn't disappointed not a lot of detail but an amazing sight.
  8. Hi was tidying my garage when I noticed the huge Moon, it wasn't visible in my telescope from my house so I located to an area where I could view it. I used my Celestron Fi5 in goto and snapped the image with my phone.
  9. Hi I have just this minute completed my 3rd consecutive nights observing . to be honest I expected a night like Sunday which was amazing seeing here I set up my Celestron Fi5 telescope using a hand set and I had an immediate 2 star auto alignment so I had a sky tour m15 super ,m39 ditto m31 ,m32 blue snowball, little coat hanger ,double cluster in Perseus a few doubles and finished with Jupiter but the seeing wasn't to good , I then finished off with a brief binoculars session including the Pleiades(winters on its way) well chuffed and ready for bed.
  10. Hi I have been out tonight and have been using binoculars and naked eyes to view the best Skys I have seen for many a while. I stood looking in the direction of Cassiopeia and suddenly there was a brilliant flash of light to the right of Shedir this was at 10 mins to midnight did anyone else notice it?
  11. Hi aftertaste nights successful seeing conditions, our weather forecast was once again clear skies. I set up my Skywatcher 80 ED on a az mount to show a fellow AA( amateur astronomer) the Moon and the seeing wasn't to bad but not to good. Little later the skies started to darken and the Moon became more prominent and I switched to a Celestron 5 on goto and the seeing started to deteriorate quickly I managed a quick snapshot with my phone. I located Saturn but the seeing was awful so I called it a day. During this time I was amazed by the amount of bats of differing sizes that were flitting about
  12. Hi I went out at approximately 8.45 pm to ob serve the Moon and it was just in the right place for my location . The seeing was good and I spent a long time scanning the surface which was really enjoyable. I went inside for awhile and had a swift G&T and then went out again and there was Saturn using my Skywatcher 127 on goto I had tremendous views of the planet and at least three moons,I also used my cover to blank out stray lighting. Eventually Jupiter was available to view and once again the seeing was great with lots of equatorial and polar banding visible I finished at approximately!.15 am well pleased. I started observing with a Celestron Fi5 on goto and the changed on to my Skywatcher 127 this telescope gave the better seeing.
  13. Hi the weather here has been unfavourable to say the least.tonight was the first chance to view the moon since new and I had to set up on a small area from my home. I don't know if it was my equipment but there was a very bright spot on the terminator I changed eyepieces but it was still there there was also a very prominent x visible. I took some snaps through my phone (must master my canon camera) but it was great to view my old mate again
  14. Hi has anyone used the Celestron Fi5 set up and of so was your experience positive or otherwise
  15. Excellent report I can sense that you have really enjoyed your session
  16. I agree lower the tripod for greater stability then made an adjustable seat this has made observing much better
  17. Hi The skies cleared over to the west tonight at 6PM today. I set up my Skywatcher 80 ED telescope on the Skywatcher AZ5 mont on a custom tripod. The telescope had a white light solar full aperture filter, the views were simply amazing with lots of active areas and the detail s were very crisp. The best combination for me was a 2x Barlow with a 25mm eyepiece.
  18. HI I was amazed that the skies actually cleared here at approximately 6.30 this evening. The sun was well low in the west and I set up my Skywatcher 80 ed telescope on a goto mount with a white light solar filter. the amount of solar activity Was great and I enjoyed about 45 minutes of enjoyable seeing
  19. Excellent ingenuity is great I made one from a piece of Ali and fixed a spare red dot finder shoe to it works good
  20. Hi Once again I have been trying to view the phases of the Moon but at this time of year the sky is never dark. The added problem is due to the early rising of the Moon as from my location the tall trees also interfere. I was able to catch a glimpse .
  21. Hi once again I tried to view the Moon this evening, obviously the sky is very light at the time of viewing (8.30pm) I was using my Skywatcher 127 skymax on goto ,the elevation of the Moon from my location collides with the trees opposite my house very early but I had a small window to observe. the image was darkened to show some detail
  22. Hi Managed to get a view of the Moon tonight just before the local trees blocked the view
  23. Hi I am trying to get views of the waxing moon but the conditions tonight weren't ideal. I managed to get a glimpse owing to the lack of elevation of the Moon and the height of the local trees Used my Celestron 6se
  24. Hi again further to my earlier post I went to observe the moon . The local trees obscured my view ,but after a while I could manage a small window. I have taken all my previous photos using my iPhone but after comments from members I tried out my DSLR on my Celestron 6se
  25. Hi had a small session on the Sun and I noticed the Moon between the trees so I changed tack to have apeep,I will try again later for a better view should it remain clear
