  1. Hi from 4 o’clock until 6 30pm I viewed the Sun through my Coranado solar scope and it was on amazing form. there was lots of fantastic prominences sunspots and surface features the best seeing of solar activity ever for me.
  2. Hi Earlier this evening my grandson called round and I had previously set up my Coronado on a goto mount Unbelievably the skies cleared and the Sun was well placed for viewing My grandson took some snaps with his phone and I was impressed. there was lots to see and this was the first time that he had seen the Sun through the Coronado
  3. hi the weather here hasn't been good day or night but today at about 6.15pm the clouds cleared and the sun was well placed for viewing with my Coronado the views were magic with plenty of sunspots ,flares and granulation and many surface features visible. it appears to me that this time of an evening is when the sun is best placed to show the best detail I did try to take a photo with my phone but it could not show any detail that I could see visually
  4. Hi I use a one quarter British standard Whitworth bolt on my Celestron mount to secure it to other tripods if you can’t find one pm me and I will send you one there is 2and a half 1 and 3quarters 1 and a quarter
  5. Hi the skies cleared here late tea time and I set up my coranado on my AZ5 mount. There were only two prominences visible but the detail on the disc was amazing
  6. Hi today at about 1-30 I set up my Coronado pst and my Celestron 6se with a solar filter. I am a newbie with the Coronado but today was amazing I did a sketch as a record. the wind was a problem but my garage helped to shield me
  7. Hi once again I managed a late afternoon session on the Sun using my Coronado, It was very windy earlier and a waste of time trying to observe ,but at 6-15 onwards there was lots of action to be seen and I did a sketch. ignore the red edge to picture I did not see any letters
  8. Hi , This afternoon the sky cleared and I set up my Coronado PST and started to view the Sun. There wasn't much action at first but at 18 46 lots of mottling appeared and two sunspot groups with prominences darker lines and it was worth the wait I did a sketch of my view ,not the smiley face,
  9. Hi its taken some time to get to grips with the PST but its been very rewarding
  10. Hi we have been fortunate this week to have the Sun in a good observable position from my neck of the woods. For the past 3 days I have been observing the Sun with my Coronado PST and what a treat it has been,I have stated before that it is a learning curve together to use it properly. Suddenly it just clicked I had found the so called sweet spot and flares sunspots and all manner of action was visible . Today I have spent a few hours on and off the scope and it has been great
  11. G,day thanks for your comments ,thought id send you something to cool your beer cheers kimboman
  12. They all look very robust pieces of kit and very nice too
  13. Hi the weather hasn't been very good at all recently for day or night viewing in my locale . I was fortunate enough to manage two hours viewing the sun with my Coronado and I did a little better than earlier attempts so looking forward to more sessions with the Coronado. last night and tonight unbelievably the sky was clear so I had nice session on the Moon using my Skywatcher 127 Mak on goto at the time of writing it is still clear but rain is forecast later. I have purchased a pre owned Meade ETX90EC telescope in mint condition for a little money and have getting used to goto and all works well with superb optics.
  14. Hi I feel that for clarity the refractor was marginally better but I do really like the 127 mak due to its portability
  15. Hi once again early evening the sky was crystal clear and the moon was almost overhead I set up my 127 Skywatcher on az5 mount and then swapped to a Skywatcher 80ED later. the seeing was great,I then swapped to binoculars for the last part most enjoyable night for a while
  16. Hi ,managed an early session tonight.the seeing wasn't to great but it was worth the view Also viewed M42 pics not to great
  17. Hi I thought that I would share this sunset picture with you and a shot through my Coronado
  18. Earlier this morning it was clear and sunny and I set up my Skywatcher 80 ED with a white solar filter and there were a number of sun spots visible. I then set up my pre owned Coronado pst this I have had for a while but this is the first time the sun was in a favourable position for weeks from my location due to the local trees. I must admit I don't know for sure what I should expect to see but eventually I obtained a nice crisp red image showing dark spots lots of lighter areas surrounding them . the best images were by way of a Baader zoom eyepiece and a Celestron 25 mm eyepiece, lots of practice required. My grandson is spending more time observing and he is trying to take photos with his dslr
  19. Hi last night I had another great nights viewing with my grandson and its great to have company, we had a session on the comet but it was much fainter than our previous encounter. We then viewed the Pleiades and the Hyades regions and Adromeda regions and by 90 30 our kit was well damp with a humidity reading of 97%. Today we had a brief but interesting view of the Sun with some nice sunspot activity(comet photo from a previous session)
  20. Hi managed an early view of the Snow Moon then a brief glimpse of M42 obviously the sky is to bright for any decent views
  21. Hi I have a granddaughter who is alas keen on astronomy so was my daughter so it’s great
  22. Hi during last nights observing here are some of the photos I took of the moon
  23. Hi Last night my grandson a budding astronomer came round and we observed the moon for a while and then set about locating the comet and were successful in locating it. We then spent some time looking at the Beehive in Cancer and then the Pleiades finishing around midnight all in all a great night and a new recruit to the hobby
  24. Hi I managed another early session looking at the moon
  25. Hi earlier tonight the Moon was visible between cloudy skies and I used my Skywatcher 80 ED with a Baader 8-24 zoom and had some great views. Later I swooped over to my Celestron Fi5 also using the Zoom and then a 25 mm eyepiece and took a few snapshots
