This is just my view Tonight should have clear intervals for southern areas, closest to the south coast the better. Tomorrow night should have clear spells for central southern areas and midlands and eastern England. Cloudy weather moving east and reaching the east coast mid morning

Hello Michael Thanks for your reply The exposures are 10-20 seconds, I've tried using another infra-red remote as I have two of the same make and model. One remote is faulty, as the camera seems to be working as it should be for now. I will test it out tomorrow night.

Hello I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar problem to this. When using my Pentax K70 in continuous shooting mode with wireless remote, the camera doesn't always take a series of shots. Instead it will take a single shot when I press the remote. But without altering any any settings, if I press the remote again it will sometimes take another single shot, or start taking the series of shots as it's supposed to. It will then keep taking the shots untill the battery is low, or sometimes it will stop after a few shots. It seems to make no difference if I use a fully charged battery or not. Every other shooting mode seems to work as it's supposed to. The lens is in manual focus as is the camera. Thanks

I wonder how cloudy it will be in blighty 🤔 "The Leonids, arguably history’s most important annual meteor shower" ?? Not sure why they wrote it's arguably history s most important meteor shower. https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/845129-interesting-leonids-2022/

Check this live cam for the next 15mins +- 100,000 years. -
It must take a while to check your video for meteors. Do you have to watch them back in realtime? I noticed timeanddate doesn't list the Taurids in the meteor showers, the hourly rates are too low I expect. Hopefully a couple of clear-ish nights coming up for eastern UK Friday/Saturday for the Taurids, maybe early Leonids too.

I just noticed this had gone red by chance earlier by checking the Aurorawatch graph https://aurorawatch.lancs.ac.uk/ I've now installed the AuroraWatch UK app. And I have the Glendale Aurora app. We just need the clear sky and crescent moon app 🤔

It's cloudy with a near full moon 👍 https://aurorawatch.lancs.ac.uk/

Not sure if this is working. I think it's still around, but you may have to search around a bit. https://download.cnet.com/Image-Composite-Editor-64-Bit/3000-2192_4-75207152.html https://www.downloadcrew.com/article/10556/microsoft_image_composite_editor_64-bit

NOV 3/4TH GREAT CLEAR NIGHT FOR MANY OF US!
scotty1 replied to paulastro's topic in Celestial Events Heads Up
It's likely to be very humid tonight. This is my take on things, a line from the Wash across to Liverpool, South of that line there will be clear spells, but some heavy showers for Wales, South west England and across to London. North of that line it should be clearer, particularly in north east England, and most of Scotland. Ireland looks mostly clear https://en.sat24.com/en/gb -

I wouldn't mind those night skies, and the thunderstorms. A bit too hot though... -
The brightest one I saw yesterday was 02.20, I'm not sure if the peak is around Nov 5th ( natures fireworks) or some sources say that the Taurids will be active for another month or so. I expect the enhanced rates won't last as long. Only 3 Taurid fireballs on Spaceweather so you may be right about the peak. I use small portable camera mounts from open windows to get photos. It must be easier to have a dedicated camera permanently setup. If only we had a desert climate for a couple of weeks...

Clear last night so had a look from the garden. I saw 4 meteors in about an hour and 45 mins. They all fell in the north, first one was the brightest it was yellow about as bright as Jupiter. The other three were about as bright as Polaris. They were slow/ moderate in speed. I had two DSLRs running, taking 15secs exposure one facing north, the other south for about two hours , with breaks to change batteries. I didn't get any meteors on photo. Looking rather cloudy for a while, so that's why I had a go last night. I'm not sure if these were all Taurids, but they were all in the north originating from about 80° above horizon.
