  1. After some input from members on here about techniques I've caught not only Jupiter but Io with some detail. Really chuffed.
  2. Thanks Geoff, very helpful, I've a 2x barlow but it's for my birthday pressie next week so don't think I'd get away with saying I wanted to test it, lol. I do have an ADC. If I could get to say f15 that would be great I think. I didn't know about Winjupos telling me about the focal length, thanks for that, that will be interesting to know. Nigella
  3. Thanks Geoff, much appreciated and encouraging. Perhaps I'm to hard on myself, lol. It will be interesting to see imaging at f10 instead of f25. Supposed to be clear tonight and tomorrow. I'll try at both focal lengths as an experiment.
  4. Thanks Ian, much appreciated. It's been suggested to just image at the native focal length of f10. I don't understand the science behind it but I'm going to experiment on the next clear night. Something to do with oversampling, getting higher frame rates and lower file size.
  5. Thanks John, much appreciated, my first GRS image, lol.
  6. Hi all, just added this new image from the 27th. This time three images derotated and using registax auto colour balance. Thanks for the tips people, what a great forum to help a beginner in planetary imaging. C11 plus 2.5x powermate and Zwo Asi 462mc. Still some way to go, lol.
  7. lovely captures, thanks for sharing. I'm only just beginning with my C11.
  8. Thanks Geoff, that's interesting. I'll experiment with that. Yeah, the science is over my head too but willing to experiment. Nigella
  9. Thanks Jeremy, much appreciated and encouraging. Yes, I'm going to share with John Rogers. Not sure they're up to some of the standards of the Jupiter section though, lol.
  10. Hiya Geoff, it's slightly more precise as I'm working at f25 so acquiring data is although the same, collimation, tracking, etc has to be spot on. I'm collecting approx 10,000 frames for each image as apposed to just 1,000 for solar. Also I use ImPPG for solar sharpening but registax for planet sharpening. So it's slightly different. Autostakker3 is used for both but takes longer as it's dealing with sorting 10,000 frames per capture. Also solar is mono with added false colour whereas I'm using a colour camera for the planet's so processing the colour is different. To which I'm on a learning curve, lol. Nigella
  11. Thanks Carole, still getting to grips with planetary imaging, not my area of imaging but now I've got everything working after soooo long getting equipment together. Getting the Eq8 R Pro was worth every penny for my C11.
  12. Yeah, I thought the colours were off too but struggled to get it right. Yes I tried in registax.
  13. Thanks Roy, much appreciated. Get those images processed and posted, lol. I've still yet to process several others. Hopefully get around to doing a few derotated and stacked in Winjupos.
  14. Thanks Sunshine, a new learning curve for me but some of my solar imaging techniques are transferable thankfully.
  15. Not seen the Great Red Spot since I was 15, that's well, a long time ago, lol. Anyway the weather was not the best with gusts of 30mph. I'm still getting to grips with the camera, scope, mount and settings, etc, etc. That's my excuse on this planetary imaging journey, lol. C11 plus 2.5x powermate, Zwo Asi 462mc. 10,000 frames with 20% stack. Software used, Autostakker3, registax6 and photoMS for colour tweak.
