  1. That's what I do Steve when I fiddle with the system.. I have bits of masking tape on the static and moving bits of the mount marked at the Park position so that after moving it I can position it correctly and avoid a blind solve Dave
  2. Steve... mine is in a dome and parks facing Polaris.. When you turn it on it thinks its at the Park position regardless of where it really is. I just turn my system on, press Unpark then run the SGPro sequence.... it slews... platesolves centres etc.. completes the sequence then parks... So yes no need for a slew and blind solve at the start unless its been moved from Park (which I do to take flats) .. cant see why that would be your issue though.. and out of ideas I'm afraid Maybe post some screens shots of your Sitech/SGPro settings and the Plate solve screen next time you run it. ATB Dave
  3. Hi Steve.. if it says below horizon limit then I'd suggest that you check that the mount is pointing the right way ie when you do a plate solve is it facing east or west... Dave
  4. Another marvellous image Goran.. just been admiring it over on Astrobin at full res.. Dave..
  5. How are you calibrating your flats and lights. Are you using matched flat darks and darks with no dark optimisation ? If not this may well be the issue .. as suggested by @Uranium235 try using a different flat to calibrate the red.. other than dust bunnies does it remove the vignetting? Also try flattening the flats ie flatten the red flat with the green and Blue flats etc.. again other than the dust do they produce a flat image ..
  6. Been doing a bit of a re-work improving the background and adding a bit more emphasis to the the HII regions, to avoid them ending up bright red I also added a bit of the Ha to the Blue and Green channels.. Here it is.. Thanks for looking Dave
  7. Given your levels of light pollution and the unfavourable UK climate I'd suggest going mono.. more signal per unit time than colour.. a bit less susceptible to light pollution and it opens up Ha imaging when the moons about .. your image scale will be 1.6"/pp with the 1600 chip and 2"/pp with the upcoming 294mono. 2"/pp is perfectly fine, is less demanding on guiding and will build SNR faster, also the new ASI294 is reported as having somewhat higher QE than the 1600 and no issues with microlensing. Dave
  8. Very nice... and you've also just got the top of the Soap Bubble at bottom middle Dave
  9. That'll be interesting, there'll be a difference but whether when looking at the whole image rather than zoomed in it'll be noticeable I don't know. If I were you to start with I'd just do one area and blend it in... the star cloud NGC206 in Andromeda springs to mind I started a 4 panel mosaic of the Heart using my Esprit150 with the SX46 and Esprit 100 with the ASI1600.. despite being warned off it... I got 120 hrs of data (60 per scope) before I got bored and the galaxies turned up , the narrow band stuff was fine(ish) but putting the RGB together was impossible owing to gradients and it was overhead !... One to finish this year with the Esprit100/SX46
  10. Here it is as suggested.... full size this time
  11. Thanks Alan.. it's either not been dark or cloudy here for ages
  12. Thank you.. I tried various mixes, there's actually somewhat more than I've put in but I felt it started to look a bit too much
  13. Thanks.... I thought you'd decided to do it with your new RASA... I'd thought about a two panel mosaic to see if I could get the extensions but thought better of it when I saw the gradients in the Luminance and how faint the outer arms are from here.. (Bortle4/5)
  14. Thanks Goran... early days in its processing journey, no doubt I shall develop many revisions! I shall have to figure out how to do HiPass filtering, I did just try Noels Local Contrast Enhancement which also brings out the dust lanes
  15. Its been two years since I last imaged it so I thought it was about time to go back to M31. This image was captured over the last two nights from Berkshire UK using an Esprit100/SX46 for LRGB and a GT71/ASI1600 for Ha on a Mesu. 6hrs Lum, 3hrs Red and Green, 4hrs Blue and 13 hrs Ha. Processed in Pixinsight, APP and Photoshop. For the pixel peepers the camera is a bit heavy for the stock focuser and there's a bit of tilt showing in the corners. I've also posted the Ha data which shows the vast number of emission regions within the spiral arms which extend out beyond the corners of the frame. Thanks for looking Dave
  16. Marvellous image Goran.. but could you slow down a bit please .... what's it going to be like for the rest of us when you've got all three systems running!! Dave
  17. Yes some LRGB would be nice... how about the Iris Nebula NGC7023 and /or NGC1333 in Perseus and in NB IC1805 in the Heart Dave
  18. Lovely image Alan and very nicely reprocessed Dave
  19. Another fabulous image Maurice.. you certainly had a very productive week at Olly's .. Dave
  20. HI Adam When I used my 10" Meade SCT for photography I used a 2" Baader Clicklock for Meade SCT.. assuming this fits the lx600 you'll also need an M42 to 2" nosepiece and maybe some spacers.... I have to say that my 20 year old SCT was plagued by mirror flop, coma and a poor focuser.. after much wasted money and effort I bought a refractor or three .. Hopefully you'll have more success. Dave
  21. Amazing image Maurice.. As Olly says so much dust!! Dave
