  1. I'm amazed the wedge came without a barrel Then again my wedge came without an ND filter. I thought I'd never use a continuum filter but I'm rarely without it now.
  2. When I do Solar, it's with a Bresser AR 102 xs and Quark Chromosphere. I also have a Hershel Wedge for white light observing.
  3. Unless your eye is still over the EP tube, which would be highly unlikely because the wedge wouldn't be able to fall out with your eye in the way. On a more serious note..... The film filter is extremely safe once you keep it in good condition. If you think its damaged, chuck it out. They are cheap enough to replace. A Hershel wedge is a much better alternative for WL observing but are not exactly cheap. They become even more expensive when you add the cost of a polarizing filter and a continuum filter. Practically doubles the cost. Most HW come with the ND filter insitu, mine didn't. I had to buy one. ALWAYS check if the ND filter comes with the HW.
  4. I like that. Pretty genius. Wouldn't suit me though being in a wheelchair. Although it wouldn't be too difficult to do it where the focuser is on the Heritage. We'll done.
  5. Love my Bresser 102ARxs. Shame the red stripe is just a bit of sticky tape.
  6. D'oh!!!!! Of course it is. That puts everything up at the top end. Ignore me.
  7. Just looks weird. I've never seen a R&P focuser sticking out the side of a scope and/or at the front end (?) of a scope. I'm assuming the front end because those look like spider vanes to me. I'm not familiar with this type of scope though. *Edit* I just Googled the scope and indeed everything is in the correct position and location. The focuser can indeed be rotated.
  8. Something doesn't look right to me. Is that focuser on the correct way and on the correct end of tube?
  9. Postie brought one of these. It's a 6ft long portable wheelchair ramp so that I can reach the EP of my mini DOB. LOL I'm joking. I bought it so I can go to friends houses for dinner and drinks instead of them coming to mine all the time. It's a very high quality/ construction. Highly recommend it to anyone. 129.99 from Amazon.
  10. We've had some amazingly clear nights here in the last 2 weeks. I've not taken advantage of them because by the time SWMBO gets home from work, we cook dinner, eat, relax and chat....... I'm ready for bed. I'm turning 45 next Tuesday......... Maybe old age is creeping up on me. Lorna does like the night sky, so I'm thinking that we may do some Summer observing later in the year when we can sit outside on warmer nights and enjoy it more (I'm used to winter observing). I wouldn't drag her out this time of year.......hypothermia may finish her off. Lol
  11. IMHO..........the show has run its course. I watch bit of it for the last 3 yrs. Doesnt do anything for me now. The fist two series i watched avidly.
  12. Hmmmmm How do you go out for an imaging session and forget a camera and mount?. I think you are a visual observer trying to break out.
  13. I'm a natural born recycler. I read the booklet and now it's time to recycle it. Nothing political about it.
  14. A booklet from the county council about recycling. I shall post haste put it in the recycling bin. The circle of life.
  15. Slomo controls for bins..... Looks like performing delicate brain surgery. Not sure I'd ever get used to that style of bin observing. Whatever works for you.
  16. Beautiful clear blue sky here today and nice and warm. 10/10
  17. No added sugar bean. They be the work of the Devil.
  18. The AZ5 is a great tripod/mount. Very solid and sturdy.
  19. Today the Postie brought a letter from the electricity company I'm with (never usually a good thing). Today however, it was a letter saying that my last three bills has been guesstimated and they enclosed a bank giro transfer for 200 euro. Happy days. I dashed down town and lodged it in my bank before it had a chance to self destruct.
  20. That is one beautiful piece of gear. How does it operate?
  21. Great eyepiece. Really useful for scanning the sky and star hopping. I have the same EP. It's my favorite.
  22. This arrived today. I only ordered it late Sunday night.
