  1. you may be surprised ......25mm plossl and 20mm plossl as I get more opportunity for solar than anything else these days. For a session at night though it is 26, 16 & 12 angles and the zoom unless sketching then I prefer a 50 degree field again.
  2. definitely content John although that niggle is always there whenever I go an ABS Lol
  3. here's my latest incarnation. not changed that much in the last few years but added an eyeguard extender to the 32mm TV plossl, added a 40mm TV widefield and sold my 13mm Ethos to contribute to a solar scope and buy the 12mm T2 Nagler.
  4. where did you get the winged eyecups? they look different to others I have seen (better).
  5. hi Derek I'd recommend the Nagler 6-3mm zoom as well as BGOs. As well as others, I have 9mm bgo, 8mm radian, 7mm bgo and then 6-3mm zoom. covers everything
  6. LOL I still have it so don't feel too bad, it's being looked after and used too. glad you got a replacement, it's a quality eyepiece.
  7. I think Stu's ex-eyepieces are scattered over most of the UK!
  8. I don't want to worry you but half of the eyepiece bottom right is beginning to fade away.
  9. hardly plausible Steve. those mice have no legs!
  10. this sounds daft but it may be worth buying a another used one, checking the order by careful removal (aligning each of your own lenses as you take one out of the other one) and then once all back together, sell one of them. assuming there's no damage and you are happy it works fine I'd knock off a bit (20%?) from the normal used price and explain the circumstances. I am sure it would be snapped up.
  11. Lovely box Tim. Oh the eyepieces look good too!
  12. Haha they were originally but fitted slightly better like this!
  13. I do indeed Derek almost every session. It is my bread and butter double star ep.
  14. Here's my latest incarnation. Recently sold 13mm Ethos to add 16mm T2 Nagler plus added a 40mm TV Widefield. I think I am done although I am a little tempted for a mid-range zoom for solar. I think I need a new foam insert!
  15. The Vixen has landed!

  16. One out, one in. I have sold a scope (130mm Newt) to buy another one (80mm f11 frac) for solar use. Must be losing my grip - FRACS????

Those fracs sure do work nice for solar :) The detail you can see in white light with a Herschel wedge is bonkers.

Nah just going to use it as a white light solar scope plus maybe doubles etc as a change from my 6" f11. it will mainly sit on the giro opposite the Lunt 50 when this arrives.

  17. Back on the giro.....just bought a Giro and pillar mount. Really glad to have this set up again.

it does Jules but I have had to sell quite a bit of gear (mostly non-astro old moth stuff) to get to the £900 selling price!

  18. hopefully I'll be able to do a comparison between 40mm widefield, 32mm TV plossl and 26mm Nagler. three very different eyepieces but will be interesting.
  19. yep it was the very same. I did what you did but then just went for it. Calv, me too mate. good weather never seems to coincide with availability currently!
