  1. Changes in planetary elevation, seeing conditions and temperature mean bmasks are unreliable at the high magnification needed.
  2. Thanks. Yep I used more colour vibrance than I would normally to try and enhance detail without overdoing the sharpening. Mutton dressed as lamb you could say 🙂 Oh for good conditions when the detail peels away without being forced.
  3. Another frustrating night where clear sky and wobbly seeing was replaced by stable seeing and thin hazy cloud. There was a 23 min period when conditions were at their best before the haze grew too thick. I've combined 7 images in winjupos from 3 min SER runs. Auto Dob 250 & asi224mc : f18 @ 21.01ut 1.5x drizzle
  4. Very nice Kostas! I had a similar experience last night. Nicely processed!
  5. That's a shame. I did better than the previous night though at a slightly lower alt. Over 100 gigs to sort through.
  6. That's a very nice image under the circumstances Geof. We fight for scraps in the UK despite our best plans. I'm going to try again tonight though it looks another similar forecast.
  7. Thanks Geof! I shall await your produce 🙂
  8. Thanks Craig. Cheers Kostas. I wasn't expecting anything but after missing out last week (frozen up on farm so couldn't get out at night) this was a bonus even though the cloud tried it's best to deny me after being completely clear when I first put the scope out. Histo was up and down like an Argentine football supporter but managed to get nearly 5 mins footage.
  9. Just managed to squeaze one image out of a clearish gap in the clouds. Not a bad one considering the wind was picking up. Auto Dob 250 & asi224mc : f18 @ 21.33ut :
  10. Thanks Kostas I was late to the Jupiter party this year. Missed out on the better seeing you guys got early in October. Hopefully next year when the big fella is nice and high I'll be ready and waiting. Cheers Geof I always liked to get at least one shot of the Jupiter family.
  11. Brilliant job Kostas! I never thought someone using a manual Dob could produce a level of detail like this.
  12. Seeing was not the best on this night and hadn't bothered to post until now. Auto Dob 250 & ASI224MC giving f18 :
  13. Super detail once again Geof! Repro much better though still slighlty burnt on the hood?
  14. Lots of detail again Geof. Bit noisy on my 32" monitor. Have you tried the noise control on Astro surface?
  15. Nice detail on that one Kostas! Glad you were able to get something despite your cold.
  16. Since I've been using a 32" monitor (old hd TV) it's been a revelation for processing. You could always connect your laptop to your TV with an hd cable. There's nothing on the box now England are out of the world cup!
  17. Repro looks great Geof! Love the cap definition. Limb rind showing a little on the other nights image so maybe that one not benifitting as much. Top notch for the UK. Most imagers would kill for this data 🙂
  18. Definitely can push more on this (said the midwife). Very responsive to selective contrast/sharpening. Your best Mars image to date I reckon. Sounds very swish in your Observatory 😉 I too have a warm room (pop up toilet tent) 😎
  19. Lovely image Geof! Maybe more in that one? Isn't your Observatory centrally heated? 😎
