  1. So this arrived today ? just in time for Rhodes tomorrow. Hope the star adventurer mini can cope?. The Sony camera is quite light so hopefully weight won't be a problem, but at 135 I'll probably need decent polar alignment (and @James knows how great I am at that?) Helen
  2. This was delivered by hand by Padma from NASA ?
  3. No, the mount creates its own wifi so you just join that and so don't need phone signal Helen
  4. Which panorama app? I'm off to Rhodes in a couple of weeks and was looking at options for time lapse etc. The ease of use of the Star Adventurer Mini app is very attractive but means buying (yet another!) mount. If the GTI could be used to deliver the same functionality that would be just great! A bit heavier, but more versatile for viewing too! Helen
  5. That reminds me of my old Nexstar 8 GPS - auto level, north, time and date made alignment soooo easy. This package is rather more portable though ? Helen
  6. I'm so glad the folks on here recommended the Pan 24 when I was looking for an eyepiece for a trip to the US a couple of years ago. It is a lovely eyepiece and gets a lot of use Enjoy! Helen
  7. Yes, I'm so glad it was perfect - our friend got to see/experience her first totality (we'd seen the 1996 one). It would have been fun to have been there to share it too. But we did get perfect conditions for last year's eclipse in the states Awesome experiences!! Helen
  8. <off topic> Ah, Turkey 2006, we should have been in that audience (our friend was) but Mike got food poisening in the airport hotel and we ended up in Surrey Hospital instead of Turkey But our friend enjoyed the amazing experience! Helen
  9. +1 for the 130 heritage It is a great little package. I've had some fun with it and it is now on loan to a young friend who is also having great fun Helen
  10. A late Christmas present from Mike... A piece of history that is is special for me - Voyager fired my astronomy curiosity 30+ years ago Helen
  11. Thanks ? I'd like to be able to take quick snaps on nights/days when I don't want to bother setting up imaging equipment but still would like a momento of what I saw... And to be able to share it too ? Helen
  12. I can see your point though Stu! Horsehead with a phone Is the phonemate easy to use Gavin? Helen
  13. One from last night from me... before it snowed. This was the only 'hit' - lots of misses! I really struggle to get the camera position right!!! ? Nexus 5 on a Tak100, no processing. Helen
  14. A couple from tonight's brief session (how can it snow from a clear sky???) The moon looked lovely though and my father-in-law who is staying with us for Christmas was really impressed Tak 100 on a Giro-WR on a Berlebach 212 Report tripod. First light for the tripod which was a Christmas present Helen
  15. Envious? me? never....well perhaps just a bit My Telementor hasn't seen skies for quite a while - that's what comes of buying a Tak100 But it is such an iconic piece I can't imagine selling it! Helen
  16. And after I'd finished ? I was out with it, but in the partial protection of the warm room with a couple of heaters!!!
  17. Don't know what changed, but pleased to say it is working and connects to Skysafari when the settings are changed in line with this page https://teleskop-austria.at/information/pdf/SynScanWiFi_HowToSetupSkySafariForSynScanApp.pdf Happy Helen thanks @happy-kat
  18. OK, going to download and try again... hoping!! Helen
  19. Thanks. When I run the synscan app I just get a black screen and nothing else happens. It would be great if there was a way around this ? Helen
  20. You might want to just check the android device you have works with the synscan app... I have a nexus 7 (very old!) and a newer ASUS 7 and unfortunately both have Intel Atom processors which the app does not support Very disappointed! Works with my nexus 5 phone, but was hoping to use a bigger screen! Helen
  21. There may possibly be Welsh cakes ?
