  1. Here's a few from the gap in the clouds last night, thought I'd left it too late, when I went out, but it's not often you can sit out and absorb the silence recent times has brought, no cars or planes or music.. just the odd owl.. anyway just under two wait and I got my reward.. hope others had clear sky's.. was a lovely site in the bins.
  2. Had to sit for about an hour and 40 mins for a gap in clouds on this one..
  3. Should be nicely framed in my 32mm/50deg or 24mm/68 and f11.. lots of crisp views.. Might even get a snap with the camera through the scope again.. Thanks for the heads up..
  4. Thanks Reggie.. Im going to play with the data i got last night, hopefully i can get the noise out of this, didn't look that bad on the phone screen..
  5. Quick single sub, iso320, f9, 3.2 sec cropped and tweeted on phone.. Nice sight in the sky tonight.
  6. can't argue with that, when you look at apps like flight radar there is still a massive amount of air travel going on, a lot of its freight but theirs enough of it that isn't..
  7. Nice photo's, I've not managed a observing session with the scope, however when i popped out last night to to watch the ISS and Star;ink, i was taken back at the number of stars and clarity visually, so not shocked to see those mags on the moon, with such an nice frac. Reminds me of "the beast from the east" a few years back when i got over 450x from my starwave. I do wonder though, how much of this recent good seeing/stability is atmospheric or down to the lack of pollution? and whether the two are that connected, ones impacting the other. I'll live on the flight path for most of the traffic out of Europe to america, the lack of air traffic is surreal TBH.
  8. I need a small frac so i can grab and go like this.. I checked on Helioviewer last night and the spot wasn't visible, however this morning it seems to be there, which is odd..?
  9. Just thought i'd post a heads up, active region just coming in to view.. All the best, keep safe and well Fozzie
  10. come to think of it... so has the wife.... 🤔
  11. I've had some astounding luck in some raffles, in my time..
  12. I've been struggling with Registax6 recently, seems to crash even on the new lap top more often than i would expect. Had some great results so perseverance is key. In respect to work flow from Canon RAW, couple of questions and pointers. What are you stacking, image wise.. Planet/Deep Sky or moon or?? I use Registax6 (RS6)/Autostakkert3 (AS3) for luna stacking. My process is as follows. Shoot frames with Canon in Raw Download photos to PC Run RAW files through PiPP to crop and centre and quality sort the images. Save the files to PNG or TIFF or SER (these are compatible with RS6 or AS3) Upload in to RS6/AS3 Set perimeters for % quality stacking etc. Run alignment and stacking Play with wavelets. I don't think AS3 or RS6 takes RAW.2 or RAW.3 files, so they need converting. If deep sky/wide field then maybe an alternate, like deep sky stacker, is better option. HtH Fozzie
  13. The plates on my OP don't appear to have a DT on them.. despite looking in really good condition.. shame, but it might not be the solution I was looking for..
  14. It's the variety I like, from doubles to quads, apo to achro, short to long, white to those beautiful skylights in black and bronze.. even some bino fracs.
  15. Did you ever try this on your GP.. they do look very similar in respect to fixing..
  16. That, to me looks like the top of an SP, not GP..
  17. Thanks Ade, I'd read that, but the image doesn't suggest that is the case.. was thinking I could install this and add an ADM saddle... No joy in the search stu... i have to admit i was lucky to find one.. hence why I'm thinking about the mounting plate, how often do vixen green accessories come up..
  18. Hi all.. There's a couple of old vixen green mounting plates on ABS and fleeBay at the moment, I've tried googling but I can't see the answer.. Can any body tell me.. read show with idiot proof photos how these attach to the GP.. ta Fozzie
  19. Totally agree, I just spent the weekend sprucing up an old tal eq mount, came.out very well.. another bit if astro heritage destined for a renewed life under the stars.. I did read it light hearted, but these days... well who knows some times.. Enjoy that frac.. Fozzie
  20. Not at all, I wouldn't be paying too much attention to what I say!! As it happens and don't tell the others, i was actually talking about about your scope... a nice vintage frac in that condition is a serious piece of glass..
  21. That's lovely GBB, what a frac that is.. My word page 99 has some serious glass in it!
  22. Thays the idea, in 5 years or so, when the eldest is 10ish, if they are interested there's a ready made Christmas or birthday gift.. although I've been told not to take the tal out of the box.. it'll be worth more unopened but I'm not overly sure.. I like the idea of having them open something, no other person in the world would be opening at that time (hopefully)
