      John

I've been looking for a 5mm XO for a couple of years now. There was one around a year ago but it was snapped up by a certain Mr Bacanin. There is a TMB 5mm Supermono available at the moment in the UK but I've owned one of those and the 30 degree AFoV is just TOO small !

Good luck in your XO hunting Gerry

Thanks John, I'm going to need luck... I missed a "new old stock" 5mm a while back.... thankfully I have patience.. at times :)

I am glad to be sat down whist viewing. Knock me over that active region is screaming, so bright! The suns surface looks like its ripping itself apart. No wonder the northern lights are due.

The VX10, well collimated and cooled. The excellent seeing allowed the Doc to excel. The color richness with this EP rivaled refractor views....

    3. Pig

      Pig

Oh yes I forgot you had the Doc.. You enjoying it ?

    4. jetstream

      jetstream

was it the same issue bigmakstu had with his?

    4. jetstream

      jetstream

I believe so, this is a fairly common issue. Leica wants the cap stuck good as its for fieldscopes.

  17. Lets see if the Quark will warm up today..... any wagers? :)

      ronin

Quiet in Ontario at present then. Don't know if it was on your side but there was a program showing how you managed the odd little snow fall over there.

    2. jetstream

      jetstream

Nice day today, warm and great seeing. Yes the "Ice box of the nation" is right across the crick and we usually manage the snow. Frost last year was over 8' deep, many water lines froze including mine....

  19. Lumicon OIII is here, very clear skies are here... :) what targets?

    1. Pig

      Pig

Nice one Gerry ..... I guess you will have to try a few and let us know how it performs on each of them :-)

    3. jetstream

      jetstream

Sure! I wonder about the shipping back and forth though... :) I like the idea of the B1200 DS

      Luke

I wouldn't say seeing by me is very good, which is partly why I don't image planets. Quark and ED100 I don't find to be that demanding for visual, the only reason I use smaller for visual is for portability. For imaging, that's different and a 100mm would sometimes be pushing it at times, but visual in my experience is much more forgiving than a stacking program. Lunt 80 sounds brill too. Good luck deciding what next move to make.

  21. Microbursts.....:(

  22. My collimation is very close!

should be better than close, is this with your new coli kit ? whats it like

    2. faulksy

      faulksy

how much did it all cost you in the end, did you use a cheshire first to confirm and did it make any difference ?. cheers gerry

    3. jetstream

      jetstream

It cost me about 1/4 the cost of a SIPS :) Not sure about the difference, but during those brief moments of great seeing I'll know the scope is right on!

  23. My seeing is back :)

  24. ngc 7465 and ngc 7463 bagged tonight, very clear skies, NELM 6.5
