  1. It is Dave, just yesterday, and in mint condition. I had forgotten but I have now added a mention in my post. A rather fine Burgess/TMB also which I am sure you will recognize..
  2. Spotted these and thought them ideal for my Obsy. Both 2" and 1.25" holders, within easy reach at best positions. I have a cabinet in there on wheels, with eye piece holders , but I try to avoid moving it as much as possible and these 6 extra holders dotted about are just the job. The two eyepieces are very recent new arrivals, the XL7 , just yesterday.
  3. Wow Dave, what a brilliant and thoughtful gift...Love it !..... Congratulations BTW.
  4. It crossed my mind more than once as to where you had gone , but it is good to hear from you again, your posts always interesting, welcome back !
  5. I certainly would buy a 3.4mm..
  6. Hi Paul, It is quite incredible that when you post your Astro activities, you never let on about the pain and discomfort that you have to put up with. You are a credit to yourself and an example to others. I wish you well with whatever decisions you make, and just don't overdo it cos we have a deal remember, for a big meetup at PAS Kettering next year, and you WILL be there....
  7. Having read about this Moon atlas on this forum and discovering that it shows the exact view as you would see through the telescope, be it refractor with star diagonal or reflector, without the mental gymnastics, I ordered a copy from FLO and it arrived today. The detail is good and the pages being laminated makes the atlas perfect for outside use without damage. Very impressed and I know I am going to love using this one.
  8. Without doubt this is my most loved scope, Andromeda, 5" f15 Achromat . Unfortunately, after seven glorious years I had to part with her to achieve my ambition of having an obsy. The pier is still in place but around it now is a Pulsar dome in which my new, most cherished telescope, never to be sold, is housed, my Vixen ED103 Swt.
  9. Four good long sessions in January and a handful of very short sessions since, the latter not worth recording. I do now have a Pulsar dome, installed last November, which has made things easier for short sessions, but it has been dire for observing so far this year.
  10. FWIW, I agree with you on the 12mm Delos, I had one and sold it a month or so later, it simply did not work for me, but I cannot explain why. I replaced it with a pair of 13mm Naglers and I can give them nothing but praise, just superb.
  11. Not sure, when you ask, Mike is always very 'sketchy' about it....
  12. I share your love of long focus achromats Dave, and that scope looks a beauty, particularly the lens, congratulations.
  13. My APM 152mm is very front heavy and at 1370mm long, dew shield fully extended, it was difficult to get behind the binoviewer. The focuser has 90mm of travel which is needed to achieve focus in all 3 postions of the Denkmeier and Powerswitch, making it even longer, so I moved the scope forward as far as I could and counterbalanced it as shown. The panning arm I had anyway as I did the weights. I take my eyepieces, diagonals, binoviewers, and 4" Vixen into the house after a session so the big stainless steel weight is used only to counterbalance the APM, being removed for observing. The two smaller weights, 3lb and 4lb remain and balance the system in all configurations, one scope or two, in operation. It works very well, and I can get to almost vertical before the weights become a problem by hitting the pier.
  14. Dave, bless him, brought his to the show for me to take home and trial, and I think he was happy as well when I bought mine...😂
  15. It is going to be a while before I get a chance to use them, and as importantly for me, compare them to my DenkII bino, but I have tried all eight pairs of my eyepieces and all slide in perfectly. The dioptre adjustments does feel a little stiff but works well and I will only find out in use at night, fumbling around in the dark. I think they will free a bit with use, as Mike suggests.
  16. I have been irresistibly drawn to the Maxbright II binoviewers since they arrived on the market, particularly because of the eyepiece holders and the dioptre adjustment, and so ,on Saturday at PAS when I saw Mike buy his and with a few pairs still for sale, it tipped me over the edge, and I too bought one. The arrival of stock replenishments sell instantly, and I had missed out several times in the last year, so to find some for sale at the show was very unexpected...but very pleasing !!
