  1. Thanks very much for your detailed reply. I did look at this but none of those options were green and I couldn't tick them. I have inputted focal length and aperature (in at least one place IIRC) but maybe I have not put it in the right place (it does platesolve ok online) if you can tell me where I need to tell Ekos the parameters of my scope and camera I will make sure I get it done. Appreciate your help with this.
  2. I'm getting a little confused here. Have got Astroberry up and running, loving it, but I would like to change from online solving to offline as online is taking around 10 minutes. Not a problem in the longer nights but last night... So I need to download and install index files suitable for my telescope+CCD field of view. I'm having trouble working that out. I have a WO star 71 and an Atik 383. Can anyone help and advise me what files I need to download from here please? https://indilib.org/about/ekos/alignment-module.html Thanks in advance Richie
  3. Thanks, will look that up. I'm a MAC. Can't wait to use it.
  4. I was just happy it worked Terry! There looks to be a couple of clear nights coming next week so will try it for real. Couple of hardware issues to sort out, got a second hand package of very well looked after kit the other week but needs a few bits doing/adding to it. Get that sorted and I am ready for a first light. Do you save the images to the onboard card and copy them off after?
  5. Just did mine, set everything up in the garden and as far as I can tell in the daytime it worked perfectly, will have to wait for clear night to check autofocuser but it looks great. It looks like a really great package, was debating the Stellarmate version as it is meant to be "easier" but Astroberry just works. And it's free.
  6. I got a Celestron NexStar Evolution 8 EdgeHD with StarSense. Stayed up late enough to view the moon and was bowled over. I set it up with the App, took about 5 mins. Really looking forward to getting some use out of this and seeing what I can see.
  7. I have a poor view in my back garden but when the starsense tried to photograph the back of a house it just moves. Can you try the app? It worked great for me (once I removed the starsense lens cap) Was about as simple as it gets hence me buying it.
  8. There is no polar alignment with the evolution mount. once starsense has done its automated 3 star alignment Routine You just need to centre the final object in the eyepiece and “align”. You only need to do this the first time you use it. Are you using handset or the SkyPortal app?
  9. All excellent suggestions. I can see this running for quite some time.
  10. Wales, Belgium and Kent. That's pretty distant eh?
  11. I wonder how many people are lined up waiting like us 🙂
  12. Oh I thought it would be some exact scientific measurements. a twig I can do 😑
  13. I was only thinking today that there must be files (InDesign?) for these I could use with my laser cutter. Do you know if these can be converted to .ai?
  14. What a great idea. I will look forward to that.
  15. Love it. Can see the fuzzies too!
  16. And another. Maidstone area.
  17. Thank you. Just waiting for the postman to deliver it now.......
  18. Thanks Steve and John. It's clear to see this place is just as welcoming as it was 5 years ago.
  19. Thank you. Still the best forum out there.
  20. Thanks for the replies Guys. So something like the Baader Hyperions would be adequate?
  21. Hi All After 5 years away from the forum (but still popping in to see what you are all posting) I am going to get myself another set up. I think the mistake I made last time was jumping straight in with mount, weights, scope, camera, filter wheel, filters, guiding scope & camera, heated dew shields and laptops. By the time I had everything unpacked, powered up and working it was either morning or cloudy! I did get myself a couple of great images but I just never got out enough. We started our own business, got heavily in to that and before I knew it… it was 2020. My plan this time is to get a great quality goto scope that I can carry outside wherever I am, switch on and be viewing within 15 minutes. Lazy bu**er I bet you are all thinking but if I don’t use it then it doesn’t matter what I buy. I am not too fussed about the imaging side although I think what I have in mind will scratch my itch as and when I feel the need – there is an excellent thread on here that proves it. I think I have settled on the Celestron NexStar Evolution 8 EdgeHD with StarSense. Easy set up, good quality, fair price and can throw my Canon on the back for a couple of lunar shots if I feel the need. I would like to know if anyone on here is using one for visual and what they think? Has anyone tried upgrading to Hyperstar for basic imaging? Lastly, the research I have done has suggested getting 2 or 3 upgraded eyepieces so some advice on those would be great too. I look forward to reading your comments
