  1. No, VAT PAID! Price includes VAT ๐Ÿ‘ thanks again Steve ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
  2. Treated myself while they have 40% off! thanks to @bomberbaz for the heads up. Astroshop.eu Looking through them shows no CA, razor sharp, pair of Magpies 50yrds plumage on black and white again no CA. Clear skies tonight too... ๐Ÿ˜Š
  3. They didn't have black, I've flocked one side and painted the other.
  4. Al Nagler should be in the Guinness Book of records for having the most nephews and niece's.
  5. Superb! Cannot think of a better way to enjoy the evening.
  6. My NO1 choice for a starter https://www.firstlightoptics.com/celestron-starsense-explorer-series/celestron-starsense-explorer-8-dobsonian.html Navigate around the sky via the smart app. 8 inch dob's , portable enough, fits in a small car, light weight, POWERFUL, then start a quality eyepiece set.
  7. 18mm & 25mm BST ยฃ110 for both. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/bst-starguider-eyepieces.html I've used both in a 127 Mak and they are superb.
  8. The slightest wind it'll blow over. It would be better to buy a couple of garden spikes for washing lines and concrete them in, add some thick alloy poles from your local metal supplies, the get a local seamstress to stich you a sheet with tube holes in.
  9. Same as yours f5, ยฃ99 from FLO is considerably cheaper than Aliexpress, I gave up waiting for second hand as the nights were starting to get lighter, the M48 rings were from amazon. Even the Morph 17.5 has better correction at the extreme edges. My scopes well collimated via Ocal, and the spiders spikes are scalpel thin. Trapezium. I can see 4 point stars and glances of 5 at the edge of the field. Time on target vastly improved.
  10. I'll take one when I get home from work ๐Ÿ™ƒ
  11. I can recommend the GSO/SL coma corrector in a Newtonian, my ES Maxvisions 82' are pinpoints to the field stop. Just fit 29mm worth of M48 spaces between the 2" fitting and the nose piece, works on all my 2" eyepieces. I have no doubt Niervana's would be just the same.
  12. My wife's thrifty, she only wears that top & shoes she's had for ages.
  13. My wife asked what that central heating boiler was doing in the garage pointing at my solid tube 12" dob.
  14. I have really bad floaters since I had central serous retinopathy when in my early 30s, I developed a blind spot dead centre, it was scary seeing this small black hole, especially at the computer screen or reading a book, It has now subsided and vision restored thank the all mighty although colour in my right eye has changed it now seeโ€™s white as slightly yellower due to blood loss in it, believe me Iโ€™m not complaining! I can see the moon clearly in a different colour between my left/right eyes, itโ€™s my observing eye thatโ€™s affected.๐Ÿ˜‰ I still have 20/20 vision! ๐Ÿ˜Š I want to start using binoviewers but cannot find some that will work with a dob for reasonable money Iโ€™m contemplating a linear set but reviews are not encouraging me, Iโ€™m also sensitive to binocular collimation, and Iโ€™m not the sort to buy and try, I donโ€™t like to mess people about. I hope to have a peep through a set one day, that'll make my mind up.
  15. My I have Vanguard Endeavor ED II 8x42 and they focus down to 2 meters with a perfect circle, however my 1960's russian 7x50's show what you describe watching the bird table 30' away beyond that superb.
  16. I wish I could make one, I understand basic car electronics but this Onsteps malarkey is witchcraft .. \o/
  17. Serge is a legend, he's helped me a lot with working out how to formulate the resolution on a few of my mounts. Would I choose a DSC over the Nexus II if I was buying again, probably, its not a lot extra to pay in the grand scheme of things.. I've got 4 mounts with encoders that use Nexus II.
  18. Sky safari is a planetarium software like Stellarium and can work on a devise that has WI-FI ie a tablet or smart phone. The NEXUS/DSC once switched on creates its own wi-fi hot spot, simply find your wifi settings on your smart phone or tablet and connect, next launch Sky safari a screen not dissimilar to Stellarium will open, its a matter of telling Sky safari what sort of mount your using. I'm currently using a push-to dob but a DM6 would be just the same as they are both ALT/AZ, you just need to know the steps per revolution of your corresponding encoders. Here is a kit for your DM6 https://www.astrodevices.com/shop/index.php?product/page/206/DiscMounts+DM6+Encoder+Kit Here are the instructions how to manage the settings in Sky Safari .. https://www.astrodevices.com/resources/NexusII/Using_Nexus-II_with_SkySafari.pdf If you get stuck after you've built it you can all me and I'll walk you through it over the phone...
  19. Sorry to answer not specifically about DSC but my take on it against Nexus II. I nearly bought the DSC but having seen both in action I chose the Nexus II which runs Sky Safari just as well as the DSC, that said, if you think you will need setting circles as a fallback then go for it. I'm running the Nexus II & S6 encoders with 10,000 ticks through a Samsung 10inch tablet which mounts onto my dob 'hook and eye' style, both are powered by an Anker PowerCore+ 26800 dual USB port, after 5 hours in winter it's not 1/3 drained. I Flew to the USA - movies and podcasts without issues, with plenty left over. What I like about Skysafari Pro is the ability to change the pointer to a Telrad or your chosen eyepiece finder position indicator. No bad experiences of a sort, but it does sometimes get out of sync after a couple of hours, I just re-start sky safari and in 5 minutes you're all good to go. HTH
