It's not bad, but I loose the east to trees - judicious pruning required.

  3. Tramadol is scary stuff - I was contemplating nipping out to the obs tonight before it started to wear off :(

Cheers Qualia and All - I saw the very best of the NHS yesterday, first class service. No observing for a week or so, but should soon be back up and running! Fortunately the UK weather means I'm not missing out too much ;)

      long_arms

Any luck? It was a little iffy last night so I didn't set up myself

    2. SnakeyJ

      SnakeyJ

Hi Dan, no it was a bust. The bloomin cloud rolled in high and obscured everything at 01:00hrs, just as I was expecting Saturn to appear from behind the trees. 3 Attempts so far this holiday and nothing to better my first attempts at Saturn in January- typical! Might get out tonight, but have to be fresh for work tomorrow so will see how it goes.

Did you manage to get anything more?

  10. Just squeezed the coat hanger on to the 1100D chip at 900mm

      SnakeyJ

Cheers Chris - ran smoothly for the first 7 x 300s subs, then the guiding dropped out and the next 13 were terrible. Think I started a bit closer to the meridian than I had realised!

Still got some data and tomorrow night may give another chance to catch some more subs ;)

Stunning down at this end of the world, but not sure my eyes are up to Mars again tonight - must sleep!

  15. Getting a little light headed on paint fumes - but nice looking finish on the Bresser Orion OTA respray :)

    1. emadmoussa

      emadmoussa

I wanted to paint similar things outside, what metal paint do you use and what kind of spray gun?

    2. SnakeyJ

      SnakeyJ

Just standard car primer and paints (Unipart Grey Etching Primer and Satin Black for the top coat). I sanded everything back hard, then etch primed - the grey enabled me to see the worst of the pits and blemishes, which I then feathered out with fine sandpaper and re-prined. Ended up using three tins of each, which is rather more than I expected on a 1m OTA, but cost just under £18. By no means body shop perfect, but I'm very happy with the end result. Should be good for anot...

  16. Will have to be gentle, but definitely going out tonight for a little imaging - can't waste the oppurtunity ;)

    1. emadmoussa

      emadmoussa

I almost smashed my kit last night...take things out..clouds and wind...go back inside clear...go out again...clouds again...come back inside...clear again... was absolutely disgusting.
