I'll take shots like these...in a hundert years or so.
  3. Looks like you know what you're doing. :)
  4. Seems good enough to me, core stars are visible, and not burnt out.

    Jupiter 16 02 2013

Don't I know it..had one night, everything worked great, except the exposures, lol, alignment on the nose, 3-star alignment w/out a hitch, guiding seemed ok, then wasn't..made it out of that night with maybe 2 or 3 images of M51, 10, 15, 20min..and they came in at 3:00am..no sleep that night, work next day, but thse three images @ those long exposure times were worth it; you gotta love this stuff to do it.

Looks good to me, maybe have a look @ gradient removal, in Photoshop, or with IRIS (complicated), or a cool little tool for JPEGs, from Molecular Expressions (Background Subtraction tool, easy).

Wow, you must live under dark skies, awesome image.
  8. From the album: First images

M57, the Ring Nebula in Lyra, a planetary nebula, the remnants of a red giant star. Such objects are formed when a shell of ionized gas is expelled into the surrounding interstellar medium. A single image of approx. 2 minutes, the original .fit file was not processed, the only thing done to it was a CMYG RAW conversion.
