My husband known here to some of you as Freddie passed away earlier this morning, He knew this day would come because he had been very ill for some time. He wanted me to make a last post for him in the event that it did. He is at peace now and with the stars he loved so much.

Finally! a chance for me and the bottle of DEET to observe :)
-
Anything really Gerry, it would be good to learn a little more in terms of observation attempts concerning the faint super nova remnant nebulae filament region in Cygnus, consisting of SH2-91 and just perhaps SH2-94 and SH2-96. Over the past couple of seasons, The Little Veil has become a recurring favourite threshold challenge, spurred on not least by your former accounts. This season I expect when you get the larger dob in operation, more of this challenging region may be determined. Another aspect that I had been looking forward to are the dark nebulae regions in the Milky Way, consisting of Barnard's E and any further, as you consider, attainable features, perhaps to explore with your TSA120, within the Milky Way cloud. I am slow to get going this season, lots of agendas currently, cannot blame the weather for a change, cant wait to get out there though, eventually.

I’ve been so spoilt with clear skies recently that I feel a little bewildered looking up at cloud filled sky tonight!
-
All being well by now, Saturday, you have a return to non cloudy nights Neil. This weather just seems to keep on giving at the moment, probably will make way to torrential downpours in due course. Good luck if you are out hunting DSO's, too hot and light till too late here, might have a go at Saturn though from allotment.

-20c tonight with the wind
-
Hells bells, minus 12, it don't do that often in the UK thank goodness, it was minus 7 here but thats a normal temp for this time.
-
-13 in parts of Northumberland and typically between -10 and -7 in Northern Towns and Cities, I think that it might only be -3 or so tonight. Its good to have a decent cold spell in the UK, particularly after last years very mild winter, as you say probably quite normal for your location at this time of year.

should have some mega reports and pics

30 hrs no power from the ice storm, then the net collapsed for 6. I'm sure glad the views make up for some of the weather lol!
-
Windchill -44c+ today @ -22c with 50km/hr gusts. Brisk to say the least...
I spoke too soon in the other update lol! Sure glad I have a woodstove...
-
Seriously cold Gerry, Britain is experiencing a touch of winter though nothing too drastic, just some snow fall (Scotland in particular), high winds and more seriously high storm tides across the east coast. Never ceases to amaze, that in the morning rush hour various main road routes were closed due to multiple collisions, one involving no less than 15 vehicles (and the roads had been gritted), glad it wasn't on my commuter route. Keeping that woodstove going sounds good.

5 more days of snow to go... at least its warm, -20c seems to be the minimum for now.

Finally got to see M78!
A bit fainter than I thought, but still impressive. I'm not surprised I missed it the other times I went looking.
-
Great good stuff, M78 isn't visually much to take in yet is one of the easier reflection nebula and is a part of the Orion molecular cloud complex. Now that you have seen it, you will easily encounter it again and perhaps will sharpen your responses if in turn you might seek out other reflection or low surface brightness nebula.
