  1. Waiting for an opening in the clouds, under the street light.
  2. Hi Karl, Welcome to SGL, and the South Wales Group ! As Pat says, things will pick up as summer ends and the dark nights approach, which then makes it worthwhile for many of us to travel and meet at our group observing site. Also, we have a Star Party at Pengelli Castle coming up in September which may interest you; details in another thread. Cheers !
  3. Maybe in dollars if its near new, but not in pounds. There are better deals out there.
  4. Along with torch, Pocket Sky Atlas, guide, planisphere and log, our ultra light go anywhere travel kit consists of a 45 year old Mak and a 60+ year old Tripod. We have a tiny caravan which doesn't get as much use as it deserves, but there will always be room for a larger kit; and my favourite mug of course.
  5. ( Secretly, I'm hoping Astro_Baby will say....... oh , go on, you can have it for a ten'r. )
  6. I have a Half /Hitch Mark II, should have got a spare dovetail.

  8. A receintly acquired Telementor 1. I really like the helical focuser.
  9. Ahhh, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
  10. Please don't tell me it "has" to be an 18" Mag 1 Portaball.
  11. Some guys buy themselves a motorcycle or sports car when they retire, I chose a Questar instead with the encouragement of my Wife. She said there was less chance of me going wild, and it would be more economical in the long run. Edit: I picked the right girl.
  12. I need to downsize, and keep telling myself..... I don't need a dob, I don't need a dob; and reading these threads don't help. Do I really need a dob ?
  13. The Telementor is my favourite, and is all I need. The other two will be looking for new homes in the near future; I really need to downsize.
  14. Here's our herd....... Prinz Astral model 100, Zeiss Telementor, and our Sears 6339-A which is presently out at sea on a freighter headed this way.
  15. Its a Half / Hitch Mark II On a Manfrotto Video Tripod.
  16. Nothing to do with dealings, unfortunately he just wasn't interested. I've been an amateur machinist for several decades, and would have made the dovetails myself if I had access to equipment here in the UK. Anyway, enough said. Clear skies.
  17. Glad it worked out for you, wish I could say the same.
