  1. A warm welcome to SGL
  2. I never got the AZ Pro mount as I was put off with my EQ6 Tripod with the EQ5 adapter plate may not fit the AZ. As I have long Fracs I need the height to clear the tripod I have never got a satisfactory answer if the AZ would fit with this adapter plate. https://www.rothervalleyoptics.co.uk/geoptik-heq5-tripod-adaptor-for-eq6-2-tripods.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAt5euBhB9EiwAdkXWOxDihu79uRqzi5VndF0gRdudFRVuq5fOq8pKe-V5fcH0440RooafcRoC4C8QAvD_BwE
  3. This is just where I set up the starsense app cannot find its position the only way I can use it is to put a 8x4ft piece of wood up on the side of the shed but then I cannot view south. This is one of the reasons I am selling my 10". 20240106_185603.mp4
  4. I regret selling my 8" Skywatcher reflector and my Meade 127mm refractor. The reflector was flocked put better springs on it don't the mod on the focuser and on the secondary. RACI and Telrad fitted Went to Buxton to a informal meet the objects I saw that weekend was fabulous. The Meade I had it fitted with a Skywatcher dual speed focuser I split a 0.9° double star it was brilliant. I am sure once I sell my 10" Celestron Starsense I won't regret the sale I have nowhere to take it with 40 min to a hour away from here so it's not getting used.
  5. I'm selling my 10" Starsense I have a brand new code but can the buyer use it or will he have to register with celestron and ask them to send him a code.
  6. Absolutely brilliant Nick hopefully I can do that with the 120 when I get it. I will be definitely trying to split Tegmine.
  7. buy yourself these, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353919946975?hash=item526745d0df:g:gbwAAOSww-5iD7RC&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwPitE62sL1xBrB9fqOhVXJTMwCtsyEJE0YwiXRBEkBA%2F63CGkAmrMURtMpcjk%2F0b4xIxO7d0gEPVdOVORzw4FoD%2B7VyYbm3laZ9VozW%2B0NG3cpAkuDTWEfOHLMb2d0vu8TG2cZz9j%2BVi2oVdXze7XIhDRTkNnaYL6f4b01r4lr5QAdW%2FJDOVAW832aBixZpPQmm9mh3E5ntBnAWxP5DMmClJfVfP2dKrMcTGwNYkuIAzxUlkn%2Fsz6%2BoHh72yy%2F8jUQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR8aXk8OqYw https://www.screwfix.com/p/deta-tte-upvc-white-self-adhesive-mini-trunking-12mm-x-8mm-x-2m/262vt use the front of the cable trunking around the tube on the outside of the rings top and bottom and make your own jubilee clips to fit. You can undo the bolts now and spin the tube it will not slip forward or backwards and unbalance the scope. Here is a picture of a 200p but at the time I used embroidery hoops but I got the trunking and jubilee kit as it made the tube spin easier.
  8. I'm visual only I point the north leg by eye level the tripod put the mount on then polar align only needs a tweak. Load the scope and weights check polar alignment again usually needs another tweak then I'm ready usually accurate for the session.
  9. I wonder if you sold the scope would the person buying it have to use the sellers email to input the code or could they register with celestron to get a new code.
  10. Wish I had a dark place to go to an hour away and some observation friends to go to.
  11. I have flocked 3 scopes 6" a 8" and now the 10" so I am well practiced 😁
  12. I flocked my 10" Celestron Starsense before Christmas easier than I thought. I took the mirror cell out and flicked right up the the spider. Only took 20ins.
  13. I used to leave the front cover and the eyepiece insert off for a couple of hours after I brought the scope in and laid it horizontal just in case as PeterStudz says the warmth produces any dew.
  14. I made a dew shield out of a camping mat and some plastic sheeting glued together I never had a problem with dew.
  15. Tal 100rs, Celestron zoom, polarising filter and S21
  16. If you fancy coming to mine you can try my eyepieces in your scope before you buy.
  17. If you need anything else just ask and I am in St.Helens if you need hands on help.
  18. My first scope was the 150p I got BST 8mm, 15mm and 25mm eyepieces. I could easily see the rings of Saturn I saw the red spot on Jupiter and I saw the E and F stars in the Trapezium on a very cold clear night in December many years ago. The ring nebula and M13 Hercules cluster looked superb.
  19. They strip it down replace bearings if needed, regrease it with better stuff then put it together and fettle it so there is no backlash as much as possible. cost me I think £130
  20. Home bargains sell feet warmers and hsndwarmers, the feet ones are very thin stick them to your feet they keep your feet really warm. I tuck a hand warmer in each glove. I wear a hat and a neck warmer there are things called skins my granddaughter wears them to play football. They are close fitting I wear one then a long leaved T Shirt and a quilted coat. I use long John's and linen leggings I find they are warmer than jeans. I have insulated boots (go outdoors) £35 and heat holder socks. I am toasty then, a good flask of tea or coffee doesn't go amiss.
