  1. Ah excellent, it's got a split tube for binoviewing
  2. Ipswich weather says it's cloudy until 3am, although if that turns out to be wrong I'll be out like a shot, despite this annoying cold. I'll just stick some tissue up my nose
  3. I'm very happy with the focuser and the build quality, just waiting to use it in anger to check out the optics. The only clear nights I've seen since it arrived have typically been when I'm working a late!
  4. Thanks Steve I can't believe I nearly sold the tripod, really glad I didn't! I think the Skylights frame your Starwave nicely, great scope, I very nearly went for Derek's when he sold one.
  5. I'm sending up the Batman style Tal sign to give Jules forewarning, he will be wondering why his head is spinning round with his ears on fire.
  6. Well don't hold back Derek, tell us what you really think lol They look proper to me, deep white gleaming finish and built like a tank. Honestly, if you could feel the build quality of this thing, this and the cockroaches will be the only thing left standing in an apocalypse
  7. "now I'm going to get a new D & G 8 inch F/15 next year" Wow! now that's a frac! May i ask how are you going to mount it? it's going to be huge!
  8. Definitely, Roy I just needed some way of setting up the pun hehe.
  9. It's difficult to compete with all these lovely fracs, I might as well throw in the Tal
  10. Here's last nights first light with my Helios 200p f/5 on a CG5. Managed 15 minutes before the solid cloud rolled in
  11. Cool scope jules I was salivating over this scope on ABS myself. I know you've fancied an f6 for quite some time so it's great to hear you've finally scored one in style. I've today bought an old 8" f/5 Helios Newt, so I'll add my contribution to the thread when it arrives
  12. Really nice Dave, I like the full Vixen livery top to bottom and the hard wood inserts look like a great idea. I keep meaning to PM you for a catch up, I should pull my finger out!
  13. Fantastic read john, and what an incredible scope!
  14. Very Darth Vader esque the C100ED, don't you think . To summerise mine- wonderful optics, terrible focuser!
  15. Great thread idea. Here is the last duel setup I had - 60mm f16.7 Skylight and C100ED f9.
  16. I think I looked at these on the TS site a while ago and wondered about them. It sounds quite versatile for both imaging and visual, it would be interesting to stick a Panoptic in it as I bet it would give quite some FOV. A good alternative to a camera lens with a DLSR I should imagine too. Here's wishing you a swift first light so we can find out how it does? And yes, that ASI1600 looks like quite a camera, ZWO seem to be bringing out winner after winner!
  17. Nice Matt, I reckon that cute little ED60 would be a great match for your Star Andventurer, was this the plan?
  18. Core blimey that's a great looking setup Shaun, I was hoping to see some pics of this new mount and scope.
  19. Oh my word it's a long focus Fluorite Tak, I feel like I've just seen a Unicorn! Big congrats John I really want to hear what you think of this scope!
  20. haha! I'm glad the makeshift lens cap is still in employment I notice this thread celebrated it's first birthday yesterday! Definately the best thread I've ever managed to start!
  21. Lovely setup Dave. I saw these new ones in Red on the Altair site and thought they looked really striking! The best I've ever done with any scope is to detect the cores of M51 with averted vision, so to detect spiral structure must have been amazing
  22. That's an unreal array of fracs Joves, all of them are stunning!
