great image, very well processed but it looks black clíped and that there is more data in it to be shown.

give it a bit more stretch and try to keep histogram at about 25% from the left.

congrats

Thanks for the advice .  I'll give it a go and see how it looks.

Very good shot, especially from an achromat.

Thanks you. I also took some data on the Pleiades on the same night. The CA was so bad I didn't even bother processing it. It's tough processing them, but galaxies and nebula seem ok. CA in visual doesn't bother me at all, but for AP it can get real ugly...Can't wait to get a decent Apo though. I'm going to try a mosaic of M31 with my newt, that'll be a first. I was thinking about using EQMOD mosaic, is it any good?

Wonderful image. Well done.

Many thanks

Very nice image. Thanks for posting.

Cheers buddy

Thanks Charl

great image mate, lovely colour and detail. thanks for sharing charl.

Thank you Olly . When I was processing it I had trouble getting the stars under control. I think its partly to do with the CA. So after reducing them because they seemed to dominate the image, I went back over the background space in PS camera raw filters and adjusted the black point, shadows and so forth with the adjustment brush, leaving the galaxy. In levels my black point dropper RGB is set to 15 so I don't usually go so deep. I think I liked the feeling of depth and a bit of perspective across the galaxy, so I left it. Like I say I'll take another look and see how it comes out. Thanks again.

That's one of the best achro images I remember seeing. I agree with Atreta about the black point but you have a strong result on the galaxies.

In Ps you can easily do two stretches on this kind of image, a hard one for the galaxies and a soft one for the background stars, then you simply blend them. The simplest way is to use the eraser tool but you can get into fancier masking techniques as well.

Olly, I hadn't though about using the eraser tool in that way. Useful tip that. Thanks

See you can take astro photos with achros :-) Superb image one of the best achro Dso images Ive seen, well done

Thanks you  , not bad for a cheap scope from the used adds.
