Strange cloud formation

Just stepped outside to check the sky an was confronted by this very unusual cloud formation. Apols for the poor image as it was taken on my phone with a considerable amount of zoom, does not do it justice

Your right Peter. It didn't last very long and the way the setting sun was illuminating it was changing rapidly. Am I right that the lenticular element is the cigar bit? It struck me as unusual as it looked like a "spear" going through a "smoke ring"

Ian are you or are you not a member of the dastardly cloud appreciation society ???

Still it does have a certain (perverse) attraction

Hi Robin,

Ha,ha, your right, it is a bit perverse. I think it is a case that you sometimes need to admire your enemy [emoji12]

It was certainly something to behold

Clouds are fascinating and it's better to to make lemonade from lemons (hate that saying :D) when we see them - they can be quite beautiful, sometimes...

I suspect the 'smoke ring' surrounding the lenticular cloud is fragmented contrails.
