200pds HEQ5 imaging set up

Recommended Posts

Morning everyone,

Just wondering if the HEQ5 could handle a 200pds, ST80 guide package, a canon 1000d and QHY5. I'm thinking of upgrading my set up for visual AND astrophotography.

Any ideas for other scopes welcome.

Cheers

I am using the AVX mount (30b load) with 200P-DS, canon 70d, battery grip, 2 batteries, star sense, along with the 50mm finder, a 50mm guide and QHY6.

2 x 11lbs weights just gives me balance.

I get decent 30s unguided.

First night on one Monday, a bit of light cloud and a good dose of street LP. The RAW images is a little better.

I'm currently using a standard eq5 with a 600D and aslong as I take my time to balance and polar align I can get nice round stars with 5 min subs.

About a month ago I had the best guiding I'd ever managed so tried a 15 min sub and my stars were still nice and round so I'd imagine a HEQ5 would be able to handle your setup no problem (just aslong as there's no wind)
