Imaging with the Samyang 135mm f2
beamer3.6m replied to Uranium235's topic in Getting Started With Imaging
I previously purchased the Samyang 135mm (Canon mount) and I used it once and it worked well... Unfortunately however, due to a multitude of reasons, I need to move this lens along... it is effectively brand new, fully boxed and comes with the lens pouch/bag and also a 3d printed bhatinov mask which I made. I'm hoping to get back what I paid out as I need to recoup this ideally do I'm looking for offers around the £350 mark... its currently around £440 on Amazon... Please pm if interested. I will put it in the for sale section shortly but thought best to post here amongst the specific users. -
I know that the Photoshop apps for Android and Apple are limited paired down versions of the full software albeit Lightroom seems to be half decent, at least to my eyes. So does anyone process their images on a tablet, and if so which one and what software works well. I know the iPad is the market leader and a laptop can be had for less but the convenience of a tablet just fits my needs better.

I use Photoshop CS2 because I have it and I dont want to pay for the monthly CC versions. I often see reference to processing an image without stars so I use Starnett++ to remove them. My question is, once I have processed the images (one with stars and one without) how do I merge/blend (or whatever you call it) back together. Ive searched Google and watched tutorials but it just is not going in. I dont understand layers or how to work on them or set them up or anything really. I NEED AN IDIOTS GUIDE. Can anyone help me in simple 1, 2, 3 like steps?? This is the best I can get with my processing skills. I just do not understand photoshop at all... Compared to my initial processing attempt:

Can you clarify what you mean by stretched and unstretched images as I'm confused. I stack in siril... do some simple processing and deal with the histogram then save it... do I remove the stars then in starnett++?? Then process the removed stars image in photoshop... I'm confused -
Thank you... I was surprised bh the number of stars... I was hoping to bring out more nebulosity in the main star field but I struggle at that point.

That looks very good to my eyes. Thank you, I appreciate the effort. I always think that part of the trouble with processing is that, until you get enough experience under your belt, you just don't know what can be achieved from any given image so you never know when to stop or if going any further will just do nothing, or worse take the image backwards.

I appreciate the effort... I tried using starnett++ (or whatever it is called) so I could try and just bring out the nebula but I got lost with how to then put the stars back into the image in photoshop. I really need to learn some processing skills!!!!!!!

So I have had a play, which is not saying much as I am inherently useless as this part of the process! A little overdone perhaps

That's a fair point... Is there anyway that this can be resolved... save for a dedicatedbastro camera? Would any filters help on an unmodded camera or do I need to mod the dslr??

Managed to image with it and the result seemed OK after flats/bias frames... or at least to my eyes? It is defo the canon version of the lens. -
I once again call for help (like Gotham calling for Batman) with the processing of this image.
