Despite the poor forecast there were some good breaks today giving me the opportunity to grab both white light and H alpha. Also discovered the wander of flats today, taking my first flat field of the defocused Sun and using this in AS!2 to remove noise. Worked really well, see for yourself below.

H alpha images were taken with the PST / QHY5-II mono with a Baader Q Turret 2.25x barlow. Both were 1500 frame avi's of which 20% were stacked in AS!2 and a flat field was included. Flat field was made in AS!2 using a 500 frame avi of a defocused image the same setup and using the same exposure settings.

Solar flats are great fun for playing chicken. Is there room for just one more grab and still enough time to nab a flat before that cloud sneaks in?
