Jupiter, steps ?

Hi, wondered if you could share your thoughts on this...

it's not often we see the images as they are being created at the various steps, so i wondered if these are similar to what others are seeing

after stacking with 30% of 3000 ish frames in Autostakkert

and R5 wavelets

or R6 wavelets

I image in the back garden, pretty close to house so not the best place really.

What do you think ?

Cheers guys, is this similar to what you are seeing ? it would be nice to actually watch somebody else imaging to compare.

There are some amazing images of Jupiter on the forum and it makes me wonder am I talentless, have inferior equipment, live in a poor seeing area or just unlucky

You say that you used a reducer? You need all the image scale you can get so I would park that. I use fl2350mm with a 15mm Plossl. Focus is very critical too.

I know, it's a weird thing to do but I've managed decent results at f10, but when I go up to f20 or f25 I struggle to get any detail.

I think I'll try the reducer and the 2 x to get f14 next time i'm out

I like it, yes there are images showing slightly more detail but in my opinion they can often look kind of false and unnatural in some way.

As someone who has just started with the whole imaging and stacking thing, your image is the sort of thing I aspire too, don't be too critical of yourself it's very good.

Always interesting to see the workflow from the AVI's to the finished image. The seeing will pretty much dictate just what level of detail you can reveal for any given night, it can vary dramatically over just a few hours.

I like it , so from your video, I'm thinking I could maybe go harder with the wavelets and then try to denoise after

That's pretty much what I do. For denoising, my current favourite method is using a method called GREYCstoration. There is a plugin in it for GIMP, and I assume for other editors too.
