Monkey Head Nebula (SGL6)

Another one from SGL6.

This time the Monkey Head nebula NGC 2174.

Taken with Astronomik narrow band filters on the old Megrez 72.

An hour in each channel in 10 minutes subs! It was so low in the sky when I was coming to the end of the SII run I never thought I'd get the images.

Having a problem with aligning this one correctly, but it could have been to some guiding gremlins I was having slighly elongating the stars in the SII channel. I'll have another go at reprocessing when I get the chance!

There's to much out there for a life time I think Doug! The nebula shows up on my ccd with a 3 sec exposure in Ha, so I thought there would be loads of detail coming through, but the other channels are very weak so it's hard to not just be swamped by the Ha data, though I do like it as it a bit different from the norm
