How are your Texan skies?

the texas skies are much better out in West Texas. Here in Houston, there is a lot of light pollution. I can drive 2 to 4 hours west of here to get some ok dark skies. But much further west, out in Ft. Davis, the skies are extremely nice. Its about a 10 hour drive from here.

I participated in the Texas Star Party several years ago for about 4 years at the end April/May time frame. The skies are so dark and there are so many more naked eye stars its just amazing.
