Yup. And the tidal effects would make the surface of Earth like that of Io ... not very conducive to the sort of life we live.

Personally, on nights around full moon, I often wish the one we had was a lot smaller, not larger.

Plus it would be in the habitable zone...

... but it still wouldn't be habitable, being warmer would simply have lost its atmosphere & water faster.

Mars & Earth at 400,000 km would have ruined each other tidally.

This video is actually quite misleading. It suggests that, as seen at the distance of the moon, Jupiter would virtually fill the sky. In fact, it would only subtend an angle of about 23 degrees.

Personally, on nights around full moon, I often wish the one we had was a lot smaller, not larger.

But then we wouldn't get the awesome solar eclipses that we do. I'm still amazed that it is just a coincidence that the Moon and Sun are the same apparant size.
