A Quick Question

I was asked this Question last night while working.

What is your favourite constellation?

My answer was none. With everything to see out in the Cosmos it's hard to have a favourite due to each one having different things to view.

Nebulas, Galaxies, Clusters etc.

But this got me thinking of another Question.

What is your favourite thing to view?

Personally I find the Planets the best thing to view.

Constant changes on the surface of Jupiter, the stunning rings of Saturn to name a few bits.

Not really sure what my favs are. Probably galaxies from a dark site if pushed.

I do have a favourite constellation and it has to be Orion. I still have much to learn and much to see (I hope!) but I do have a soft spot for "the big guy". Mostly because it reminds me of my dad, pointing him out on cold winter nights. There are some cracking stars in there though and that lovely nebula.

My fave constellation has to be Orion... Many a night, before I got into Astronomy, in the winter months walking home as a student, I'd be following Orion and it was lovely to see.

Ursa major it's the first constellation I learnt and I still look forwrd to seeing it each clear night.

I think like alot of people Orion is my fav as its so easy find. I like viewing the moon though - everytime I look I find something else 'new'

My favourite constellation is Lyra, cos it's so small but got a couple of nice objects like the double double, and the ring nebula. I like the shape of Lyra, simple and elegant.

My fav planet is Jupiter, always have a look if I have time.
