welcome to SGL. Nothing wrong with a big scope to start with - I started with a 250mm. You just need to make sure that size doesn't get in the way of using the scope. Especially if you don't have a permanent setup.

John, Kennymid1, I hear what you are saying, Iv'e been told of a group that meet locally and im going to tag along (if allowed ). Hopefully get some hands on experience first.
