Horsehead & Flame to M42 Widefield

Only managed to get 45 minutes worth of data on my unmodded 550D before the fog appeared and blotted out the sky,

shot through a CLS filter @1600 iso with my 200mm lens at F3.2 on the Astrotrac, 17 frames all stacked and processed in Photoshop.

I'd travelling to my dark sky site so I tried some images without the CLS filter but the Horsehead nebula virtually disappeared,

is that what I should expect with an unmodded camera?

A very nice image and all the more so since it is only 45 mins with an unmodded 550D. The response to Ha on my 550D seems much better than the 400D I have.

The response to Ha wont be worse without the CLS filter it will just be down to the poor contrast due to light pollution.

Regards

Kevin
